I highly doubt that ice will go away. There is simply no other energy source that can equal liquid hydrocarbons for transportation. Batteries need almost a 10x increase to meet current fuel densities. It’s not like EV‘s are new. They have existed for over 120 years. It was only recently...
that’s much better economics than I found. For us after time of day service, we were $.06/kwh off peak 10pm to 7am. Peak was $.28/kwh. So if charging 100% at night, similar to your calculations and what I did for the most part. 120k ev miles in 4 years. If having to charge during peak hours...
for Iowa, early muzzle is only muzzle loaders. Late muzzle is either muzzle loader or pistol meeting rifle criteria (35 cal or larger). Not sure I have witnessed increased pressure due to allowing pistols, but shotguns have quickly been replaced with rifles meeting the new 35 cal or larger...
I voted no as by the time they have a real impact or if it even happens I won’t be doing any hunting that requires long range.
I have owned an ev, two in fact. Don’t own either anymore. Todays tech just isn’t there for corner cases in the Midwest. It simply can’t get the job done.
I too found that my hunting is short ranges and a subsonic 45-70 can take anything I want. Lowish recoil, quiet with a can. It’s a ton of fun to ring the 150 yard plate (longest target of my home range) with a pistol that sounds like an airgun.
I too got a Marlin last summer, beautiful gun...
Realize what your buying as a “safe” isn’t a safe, but a locking storage container. Basically a job box shaped like a safe. I have had the big box store versions and now have one from zanotti armory. Went that way as they are assemble in place which meant I could do the installation myself...
If you don’t have access to a 500+ yard range, you can get an approximate bc from a radar chronograph. this won’t be a popular choice, find someone who has a LabRadar and set it to return 25,50,75, and 100 yard velocities. Then plug that into a BC calculator. It will quickly tell you if it’s...
Something 30 cal, made from Ti that weighs less than 10oz. All it needs to be is hearing safe for hunting and on the range you will wear hearing pro, so extra quiet doesn’t matter. Length and weight are more important imho.
there are plenty of cans that will fit that criteria and your 1200...
where your shoulder contacts the stock to bore axis makes the most change to cheek slap. My wife suffered a lot when shooting shotgun, would be bruised after 100 rounds. The fix was lowering the bore by putting a taller comb and sights. Went about 2” taller and that moved where the gun...
I went into fleet farm last week. Huge selection of guns and ammo. Price on TSS was $2 less than scheels and $10 less than the local shop. Local shop tends to be on the pricey side, but always has a decent selection.
I agree, they have been optimistic in my testing as well. Almost seems like they forgot to account for the hollow point. I have wanted to test the tipped versions to see if they run truer to published BC. when I tested, the small HP was much closer to actual that the large HP version.
Since a form 4 is basically a transfer from dealer to an individual or trust, can’t happen until your dealer has the can on his books. Thus back ordering it won’t help with the tax stamp, but will mean you are in line to get a can.
Yes on shoulder bump if I happen to have a bump gauge. If not, then just tighten to hit shell holder and run. Do a plunk test just to be sure it will chamber.
for inside the neck, I simply touch the case mouth to the lube pad. That’s usually enough even if changing caliber. Make sure and...
It’s used for setting head spacing. it harder to control when reloading than the shoulder. Also serves no purpose anymore, why the newer chamberings removed it. in the end, why have it as it does nothing and makes reloading a little more difficult. Does it cause any problems, not really.
I just ordered a 7.5 twist 25-06 for my Tikka. Should work fine with the 80g ttsx or the new 130+g from Hornady and Berger. Barnes data with the 80g is 3700+, plenty of speed to make copper work.
Probably the best option. I have multiple 16’s that I use for upland and waterfowl, load my own nontoxic. i would like to find a mirku barreled sweet 16 so I can run non toxic. I had a Belgian from 56’ and a pre ww2, but those barrels are too soft.
Good luck. Not a lot of options and none that I would find cheap enough use for clays. I love my 16’s, but nontox is harder since the 3” chamber was only recently introduced. probably better off to invest in a different gun for clays.
I used a 500g 45-70 on deer last year. Quick clean harvests with almost no damage. The 500g had a lot of penetration, going to try the 400g this year as I can spot the shots easier and don’t need the extra penetration of the 500g.
