I used H1000 with CCI-250's and 162 eldx but with the tikka t3 / t3x, your limited to mag lengths. Mine shot those 162's ok, not great, but ok. I took the same combo in my 30+ year old Browning Abolt II 7mag, seated the bullet out much farther to .020" off lands and shot .311 moa.
As...
I have the victor and have no issues with the bolt. Both of my optics have very good eye relief, so I was able to set mine further back without any issues.
Med rings, 1.20". A nickle will have trouble getting between scope and barrel, but it's a CTR barrel. When I pulled the CTR rail, i stacked dimes in the ring locations until i got the right height to clear barrel. Measured both the stacks. Then get the ring dimensions to the centerline, which...
I have the same rifle. When playing with a load with a BOSS on it, you have many variables to deal with and can deal with. The reason it shot tighter groups with the suppressor on it is because the weight of the suppressor was in the "best" location for the tuning weight on the end of the...
I used a mountain tactical rail with recoil pin on one with vortex precision match 34mm rings (basically seekin rings)
The other used UM rings that also have a movable recoil pin for ring adjustment. This is also a 4-16x50 credo but the gun is a CTR 308. Can't slide a nickle between barrel...
I use 130 ttsx and 155 lapua scenars in both my Tikkas. Have killed with both and the scenars are labeled a target bullet. Both are pushed with varget.
This, I did this by accident. Thought my seating die was set correctly but wasn't. The range official that I know kept telling me that "you are hitting your rifling". Told him I wasn't and measured it in front of him. Wasn't until I got home and just so happened to look through my pics. I...
Just FYI, I had a Tikka T3 7mag that I was wanting to barrel swap for a 308 CTR contour. I posted on the site about a possible trade of bolts with someone looking to upgrade to a magnum bolt. At the time, folks were barrel swapping their 308, or even 223 for a magnum bolt so they could screw a...
If the bolt face is the same size that you're wanting to go to, then simply change the bolt stop. Changing the bolt stop can make it longer or shorter. I took my 308 and made it a long action 308 so I'm not limited to mag constraint. I'll hit the lands way before I have mag issues now. If...
^^^ this. Should have elaborated more. I also have a 2.5-10x56 accupoint that my son now sports on his R700. But as KenLee mentioned, if your willing to spend big $$$, it's a no brainer.
If low light is what your after, schmidt bender Polar T96 is king. I have a dedicated tikka 308 that is my low light setup with a SB Polar 4-16x56. I could easily go to jail for shooting pass legal light.
Polymer one. Ordered it from Mountain tactical. You'll also have to lightly sand the barrel channel of the T3x stock to allow the CTR barrel to freefloat, being its larger. I haven't had one issue with the plastic ones.
My Tikka T3 Lite 308 runs the 155's over 47 g Varget at 2860, my 20" CTR runs 47.5 g Varget at 2840. I could prob use faster powders, but Varget gave me the best ES SD
You are basically confirming everything that I have been reading and have heard. I like Hornady products and have been using them for a long time now even before I started reloading. But putting out false information just to sell products just isn't right. Your experience of about 125 fps is...
I really need to chrono my 7mag load to get an idea of where I'm at. I'm able to seat the 162 eld match out to 3.415" which gives me a jump right at .020". I could prob seat out closer or just kiss, but this load had a 3 shot group of .311 moa. My Mag is modified for more length so I'm not...
Just watched that also. What i also like in the video, he mentions the fact that Hornady doesn't care for the 6.8 western. But the data revealed that in some ammo, the 6.8 outperformed the 7 PRC. When it's all said and done, its about marketing and selling.
Exactly. When I bought the T3 308 for this guy several years back, it shot plain old Fed blue box 150's and Rem corlock 150's damn near in the same hole. Bought a bunch of boxes of them. Still have them today. Started hunting out in SW Texas and shots were much father, so opted for some...
