I’ve been doing some digging and I’m trying to make the absolute best sub 2,000 Elk/Deer rifle (Maybe Moose) I can make.
I’ve decided on a caliber.
30-06. Not the hottest, or best at anything, but it’s proven. Ammo is plentiful and it can do everything I need it to within my boundaries. (400...
6oz is worth the 3.5 magnification gained on top end, adjustable parallax, and .5 magnification gained on low end. plus it'll make my rifle recoil less. For under 1000 this optic seems absolutely perfect. Only one I see better over that is the NXS 2.5-10 but even then, I like the moa dot reticle...
This seems to be the logical choice out of the optics I’m considering for my 30-06. Maven RS1.2 ffp moa (ffp not good in thick cover) and Credo HX 2.5-15x42 ( reticle to busy and thin for thick cover). I don’t dial so exposed turret isn’t a must for me. Battery free illumination? Plus...
Strongly considering this optic. I hunt a lot of thick cover so curious if the reticle is to thin and busy. Also considering maven rs1.2 but ffp would probably be to small in thick cover.
Are these good to go? Looking at the moa version (I don’t know mils). I know Bushnell(Certain ones), NF, SWFA, and trijicon get a lot of love. I know the first version with no illumination failed the famous rokslide test. Did maven improve this 1.2 with advise from rokslide?
Hey, I’m considering a ruger american gen II. The Predator has a 22” barrel and the standard has a 20”. Which would yall grab in 7mm-08? Optics will be a 3-9 credo in talleys.
I
Im leaving toward the Accupoint out of the 3. SHV is off the chart bc of no adjustable parallax, I put it there bc of known reliability. Seems like the trijicon is a happy medium. The NXS 2.5-10 is what I dream of but it’s out of budget. Since I don’t dial tho I like the capped windage and...
The leupold hasn’t been used yet. The M77 has sadly went down the road. Kinda regret it. Killed my first deer with it. I was 18 tho so young and dumb. Is still have the weatherby tho. It was my first rifle. Probably will replace the Nikon buck master on it though.
I’m a long time lurker here but just made the plunge to create an account. I went down a longggg rabbit hole with many optics and many rifles before ending up with what I have now. Started with weatherby vanguard with a Nikon scope then went on to a Ruger Hawkeye with a leupold scope. After...
