Keep the meat clean and dry. Hang it as soon as you can, spray it with citric acid, cover loosely with clean game bags, cover with a tarp to keep dry from rain but still allows air flow to help the meat dry. If you cool the meat quickly all the way to the bone it should be fine for several days...
I use merino wool (mainly Kuiu) as a base layer for warmth on pack raft hunts and something to sleep in/sit around camp in. Merino wool won’t smell or get gross if you wear it for several days at a time even if you get wet with sweat or rain.
