I sure hope so! I might well have the only one, but it`s been interesting that my Savage 110 Storm in .223 has an action that`s pretty much on par with the Tikka in smoothness of travel. Of course, the Tikka`s brand new.
Looking forward to getting to the range tomorrow to zero (hopefully) a couple of less expensive 140 grain 6.5 CM rounds through my brand new Tikka Super Varmint. Also just to get more familiar with the gun. Been delayed due to TS Debby.
" Have to sell factory stock". Is that some sort of requirement for buying a Tikka? It seems it`s the first thing that many ( most? ) say when commenting on a Tikka rifle. Are their stocks really THAT crappy? I`m no real expert mind, but the one on my new T3X Super Varmint certainly seems...
You`re a better man than I am, Gunga Din! I guess it`s the things that might be beyond my personal control that give me cause for pause. I`d rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. I`ve found that to be a wise adage in my 7 decades on the planet.
Not in any way denigrating the importance of H20 in that setting, mind, but hunting (alone? ) in big bear country with I presume from this post, nothing but a bow and arrow? You`ve got bigger stones than I have either had or currently possess! A tip of the sombrero, amigo!
Night time, deep in...
Is there anything that anyone`s happened upon, short of " Just don`t shoot it so often " , that might extend barrel life at least some with the 6.5 Creed? Maybe a shooting routine? 95% of my rifle shooting is at the range. Currently investigating options for a new factory 1K yard gun. The ONLY...
I swore I would not buy another rifle unless/until my club announces the long anticipated expansion of our range from 500 out to 1K yards. My resolve is fading, however! Still not settled completely on the gun ( although looking harder and harder at the Tikka Super Varmint ), but whatever it is...
Was stationed at the base hospital at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. It`s located in the Mark Twain National Forest. This was in the mid-70`s. If you liked to hunt and fish, at least then, it was like dying and going to heaven. Place was lousy with good deer and turkey, and the 3 years I was...
After much experimentation at the range, I buy CCI 17grain TNT by the case. My Savage 93R17 just seems to shoot them more accurately, more consistently. It`s turned into pretty much just a fun range gun since my 17HMR hunting opportunities have just about vanished. Very accurate at 200 yards...
385 pages to justify the use of a caliber and load as a big game cartridge is indeed remarkable! Is this a Rokslide record yet? It`s interesting that this thread even gets comments on other sites! Never guessed my little ole Savage 110 in .223 could be so " controversial".
One of the greatest ( and most difficult ) lessons for young managers and leaders to learn is to delegate authority while maintaining responsibility for what those subordinate leaders do.
When I was a young LT in the Army, my first CO told me, " In large measure your fitness report and...
I was being facetious. Too many better calibers, IMO, than .223 that would increase the chances of a DRT shot if/when everything doesn`t go perfectly as far as shot placement is concerned. Obviously, there are those who would disagree with my opinion
The magic bullets!
Seriously though, IMO Sierra does indeed make a great bullet. Their 69 grain SMK is one anybody with a .223 with a 7-9 twist should try.
