Both of you so-called "solid points of evidence" are contradicted by decades of thousands of Glock shooters (although the NRA one was obviously written by someone lacking experience). But then you'd know all this with an open mind and a little humility. -

A leaded barrel happens because of bullet fit, not rifling type. A Glock smiley was common in 1st and 2nd Gen 40sw & 45acp Glocks - easy to cause. Not common at all in Gen 3 and later. Connecting a leaded barrel with a smiley requires some expertise to understand what is going on because peak... -

Thats the difference between experience and not. I've been shooting lead of various hardness and different calibers through stock glock barrels for over 20 years. And there are a zillion other guys doing the same thing. But you read something...... -

Unless something has changed, the "Extreme Penetrator" isn't. The EP is a marketing gimmick, IMHO. Heavy hardcast gives the best penetration. Your bear zapping ammo should be 200gr or 220gr hardcast moving at max velocity. Don't be fooled, a 10mm isn't a 44mag.... This fellow also tested... -

Is there any real danger of an overly high pressure following book loads?
Usually I have a target velocity in mind and I select a powder/bullet combination that looks like it will get there with the lowest pressure. I usually check multiple data sources as well as experience of others on forums. I load up a few with the starting load and run them over the chronograph... -

At what point does reloading payoff?
My investment for reloading rifle isn't that great* and it allows me to put over 2k rounds of 45-70 downrange, countless .223 in this time of scarcity, tune .308 loads for introducing grandkids to big game hunting, etc. I think having the independence to do what I want makes the cost of... -

Apologies for responding to a necro-thread.... I just have to ask the obvious: did you realize that the mini only checks for incoming messages hourly? There are exceptions to that of course, but it can be very frustrating if you are expecting cell phone texting speed.- dla

30-06 Reloading frustrations
Take a 22 with you next time you setup your chronograph. I suspect that you're not shooting over the sensors squarely. Or not using the diffusers. -
Lever action
A cheap Marlin 336 in 30-30. Ammo is cheap and the cartridge is a good hunter with an MPBR of 180yds. The 45-70 is fun, but ammo is ridiculous unless you reload.
