Well, I think I'm taking it to my gun Smith. If he can chop it to 16" then I'll go that route since it's dedicated suppressed. Otherwise, looks like I'm starting on my AR 10 hunting build early.
No real reason other than I'm not a good enough shooter lol. The trigger is the really old heavy one. I polished it and replaced springs already but I still yank it pretty often. TBH, the biggest reason is I flinch in fear of recoil. It's chambered in .30-06 and kicks the ever living daylights...
Well, long story short, I had a very unfortunate accident and one of my shotguns literally broke in half and my Roger American go wild 6.5 creed barrel is bent. I initially thought it was the scope mounts and shot the gun already but it actually is the barrel. My best guess is its ~1/4" to the...
Well ladies and gents, here's my results. I decided to try the old epoxy in the fore end trick. Before doing so, my stock weighed 1lb 10.2 Oz. After doing so, my stock weighed 1lb 10.1 Oz.
Lol, I didn't invent some new weightloss routine even thoigh it would mean a life fortune for me...
I've had a wrangler my whole life. I'll be buying a truck from now on. The amount of time a truck bed would be useful is absurd. It sounds like you've thought about trailers which is good.
Well folks, taxidermist responded and said the ears are normal for them.
If anyone knows any good southern idaho taxidermist let me know. Obviously I'm looking for something new for this season lol.
Hahahahahah yeah, this deer was not the greatest deer I've ever seen. In fact, I thought it was a spike when I shot it. Unfortunately, the wife who said she'd never have animals hanging in her house decided it looked cute.
Thanks for the input. None of my friends have mounts so I was getting input from folks online. I wish I could've seen some work before hand. Everything in their shop looks phenomenal but that's stuff they want to show off not they're normal.
Fun fact, I looked on their website and they are now...
If anyone knows how to fix the parts of the ears missing hair let me know. Im.hopping the taxidermist is willing to try and fix them. Everything else about the mount I'm willing to live with. I was thinking I might just try cutting some hair off of this year's deer and gluing it in place...
Interesting, how would you know that?
I looked at the seam a bit more in the back after everyone commented and found out that it was even rougher than expected. There was parts that had some sort of brown putty or clay out over the seam under the hair to try and make it look less bad.
For reference, we asked for a mount like what is my "reference buck" aka the buck from the 40s or 50s i mentioned in the original post. They even had us text them photos of it. Very vertical, my wife was very specific that she wants it to stop at the neck the dude said its old school buy could...
Fun fact, I actually wasn't planning on mounting this deer and stupidly stuck the head in an ice chest of ice on the drive home purely intending on keeping the meat ok until I could get the meat off. The ears however were never in the ice or water. When taking it to the taxidermist, I...
