Thanks for the responses guys. Ended up filing the pronghorn tag this morning so it may be a few days before I clean up my hunting gear from this season and get back on here.
Short question: how do you guys accurately range find animals in flatter country where you're only able to see part of the animal? Are certain modes better than others?
Backstory: I've pretty much exclusively hunted in rugged mountains. Typically a 15-30 degree slope with the majority being...
If scope mounts count then yes. I kept asking people why Chinese scopes are worse and everyone always told me quality but could never explain what was poor quality. So, I decided to try it. After a full summer of frustrated shooting where every once in a while the zero would shift I thought I...
Gotcha, well if you ever test it out with the regular end cap late me know the difference.
I'd be putting it on higher recoiling 30 calibers. .30-06 or 300 win in a hunting rifle configuration. My theory with going to this supressor was specifically because of the benefits of the muzzle break.
Does anyone who has an Omega 300 have any data on how effective the anchor brake is at reducing recoil. Im not really interested in suppressed vs unsupprrssed. I'm mostly interested in how effective the brake is vs a regular end cap.
Yes and no. If I did my job correctly it was 100% reliable with 777 ffg. Sometimes I'd forget to clean out the flash hole or I'd dry out the barrel with a dry patch and not check to make sure it was fully dry and it would be 50/50. Again though, if I cleaned per the book it was 100%.
As...
I hear you but I think you need to reread some of the posts. I actually have multiple 6.5 creeds and do run higher BC bullets out one of them. In a different one, precision hunter shooting like absolute garbage so I went back to a traditional lead tipped bullet. I also don't plan on shooting the...
I think I explained the reason for picking .30-06 earlier so if you have any further questions you'll have to be specific. If you're asking why I have two rifles in the same caliber.......
My original .30-06 is a first gen savage axis (pre accutrigger) that I spent pretty much my entire life...
I can get on your side with this one. Unfortunately, in my case I don't enjoy reloading so I only do it when I can't find a factory load I like. But, once you get over the initial procurement of brass they could be pretty similar.
I gotacha, I'd still call anything made in the 2000's as relatively new. Not as new as the PRC's for sure bit still way newer than the tried and trues.
I can get .30-06 and 6.5 creed precision hunter for just under $40 a box locally. I didn't check prices on every other caliber but it seemed...
Interesting, I've only heard about the 280 AI starting this year because of Backfires YouTube channel.
Do you think they're becoming more mainstream recently or pretty much always going to be more wildcat style.
Interesting, I thought the WSM's were an up and commer not an older (20 years old thing). For reference, I had never heard of them until Remi Warren said it was his ultimate round.
