As an outdoorsman 2023 was a blast. As a whitetail hunter 2023 was unsuccessful. I went to the white river and caught some nice brownies in July. Did some striper fishing on Texoma in October. Archery hunted in October and November. No shooter bucks for me. My dad did get his first crossbow...
I am currently sitting on the couch after having a knee scope this morning. I had to have some clean up done and some micro fracture repair. This all stems from being on large amounts of Prednisone in my 20's due to ulcerative colitis. Colitis has been in remission for over 6 years so that's...
Coming from a Ridgeline owner. I would really look at the reviews. If I could do it all over again I would have went a different route. I don't have a proof rifle but I do have a proof barrel on my savage and its a shooter!
I would take a hard look at the ruger gen 2 it pretty much has everything you are asking for. Also Leupold VX3 is hard to beat. 7-08 would be the caliber I would pick if I had a new hunter in the family

This guy would be easily a 180" Deer. However he lacks tine length especially on the G2. It also hurts being a 4 on one side and 5 on the other. With all that being said his mass and main beam length really help. I would guess 160" deer give or take a few inches.
I used to clean after every outing with the rifle. Then i learned i was doing a disservice to my accuracy. Now i clean when i first buy the rifle and then either when i store it long term or after about 100 rounds. Depends on the rifle.
