I'll second Midwest, I think I snagged my Lightweight for about $150 during a brownell's sale.
The perk here is that there is no timing involved, as the rail clamps around the nut. Just torque to 40 in/lbs and slide on. I'll also add that it has been solid for me thus far.
If you can wait...
100%, knowing the basics and then the idiosyncrasies related to certain firearms is a must (i.e. good/bad years, barrel condition, etc.). I'd even throw in knowing the market, and for those who want to go used, below is a list of things I've point out/asked (with tact) that have driven the price...
Totally understand, in that case I think an easy way to start the journey is this thought process:
1) Is the current barrel accurate/has plenty of life left?
2) Do you want threading/can the current barrel be threaded?
The answers to these questions will help dictate an "have to directions"...
I second the above, fact is that you already have it and for less than the cost of most guns you would buy to replace it, you could get a high grade barrel for it.
Before I say more, why is it just sitting in the safe these days?
Great thread idea, I was just pondering a route like this when I saw one of these in the shop the other day.
I think this concept is especially valuable in the sense that it shows how you can get into a solid performer that someone will not outgrow over time, with the addition of the upgrades...
Hello All,
Came across Rokslide not all that long ago as long range shooting/hunting has been becoming more of a focus for me. In this short time, I've managed to power through most of the caliber kill data collection, bullet discussions, and scope eval threads, and feel like I've found a gold...
Based on the above---> Yes, totally in on the concept assuming that parralax adjustment is included
In regard to price, in my mind, needs to be at Maven's price point or below, mainly since grad school is doing a great job at gnawing into my wallet (for anyone considering it... run... hide in...
For me I like simple efficiency and adjustability with a saddle, and have been using the Tethrd EBSS two-panel for the past couple of seasons. Basically an updated commercial version of the old webbing saddles the old timers used to concoct.
In addition to that, I've been using some Hawk Helium...
Recent one I just tried out last night: Venison Roast Smashed Potatoes, super simple
1. Marinade Roast in Brazilian Steakhouse seasoning (just used McCormick Grill Mates)-- Anywhere from 2-12 hrs
2. Crock Pot Roast on Low for 6 hours then shred
3. Bake some Red Potats @400 F until fork tender

Hi All,
Newcomer here and hope you are all doing well, have a minor question in regard to action bedding that I'd like some community opinion about.
I have a 1970's era M70 in 30-06 that I snagged for a song a couple years back, and after issues with POI shift from moisture getting in the...
