    I also heard from someone who hunted last season that the rut was basically over in 4th season. I guess thats a new learning lesson, I never thought that late November the rut could possibly shut down but it sounds like that can be very possible. Hopefully this year will be a little different...

    Congrats on the buck. With how crazy it sounds out there I'd imagine tagging out on day 1 is a relief, especially on a mature deer. Good to hear even amongst the chaos its still possible to find a mature buck.

    Thanks! Same to you. Glad to hear that, I am really eager to get after it this season. I know the unit is pretty heavily roaded but getting on those ridges and looking into spots that are hard to see from the truck seems like the best approach.

    Yikes! Sounds like a battlefield out there. I wasn't too aware of any of this before I applied, but I drew a deer tag for 4th season this year. Any of you guys have much experience hunting 4th? There's less deer tags but I know there will still be plenty of elk hunters out there.
