Great recommendations- would also suggest Eotech Vudu-very nice glass. In addition, the NF SHV it's not a sealed scope and can get damaged by water according to the NF warranty.
Have you looked at the Nightforce warranty?
Their SHV line doesn't have waterproof integrity and the electronics is covered for 3 years (WTF on the design and warranty on this).
"SHV™ models maintain waterproof integrity with their protective caps installed."
"....Exclusions to this warranty...
Totally agree- the best warranty is an unused one.
Is it too much to expect a Costco/Nordstrom level warranty experience from an alpha manufacturer "when it is needed"? There is a big difference between covering a manufacturing issue, normal wear / tear, abuse, vs an accident.
Most peeps don't...
It's always a good idea to have as much information as possible.
You get what you pay for- most people would agree on that.
It's unrealistic to expect Chinese and Philippine sourced scopes and glass to punch way above their weight.
It's not fair to combine their highest level and their lowest...
Vortex gets the Nordstrom / Costco customer service & warranty award.
They are 1st class from their low end to their high end with good turn around times.
AAAAAAA++++++++.
SIG recently changed their warranty from 5years to lifetime.
Forgot to mention - Dvor has the 18x56 UHD for $1340 brand new (others too). Crazy great binos at a stupid low price. Don't be put off by the Vortex brand - their made in Japan high end Razor stuff is very very good.
Allow me to suggest how much of a glass / image snob you are. I got turned on to Canon L glass in photography and have not looked back on buying good glass.
Would suggest looking at the Vortex UHD 8x42 from Eurooptic or 10x42s from Sierra. They can be had for under $950. Top notch alpha glass...
I know you mentioned you were looking to move past Vortex.
However, there is something to be said for the Vortex UHD 18x56 if you are looking at high power binos.
They are alpha and top notch in optic and build quality and have a 3x magnification bump over other 15's.
I'm a big fan of the...
Im a bit partial to high end Japanese too. It is really splitting hairs and the law of diminishing return kicks in really hard.
The UHD are produced to a certain $$$ point and for that I am very grateful - they kick ass optically regardless of price and have a great warranty.
I have a couple Trij Credo LPVO's in FFP and they are bitchen. I never met a Trij product I didn't like for the most part.
If you looking at a.2.5 - 10, check out the Eotech Vudu - really great scope and glass.
There are some very good deals on demo's or refurbs if you are patient and look around for Zeiss, Swaro, and Vortex.
I could have picked up a pair of demo Zeiss HDX 8x32 Conquest or demo UHDs for the same amount (Midway). I went with the UHD's ( they were brand new imo)
Really great glass...
Looking to get a lightweight tripod setup for glassing & stargazing - my heaviest binos are the UHD 18x56.
Considering the Gitzo GT2545 or the Feisol CT 3441S for tripods due to weight, height, and folded size.
Not to sure about the head ( I don't want a gimbal) and need help.
Would like to...
