No need to be sanctimonious...
I think you are misunderstanding a lot of the points people are making. Shooting does has a population impact. Shooting immature bucks has a buck maturity impact...
When the population is high, there are still many bucks that survive to maturity so it isn't...
This is the definition of tragedy of the commons.
It is in your own best interest to take a smaller md if that is what makes you happy. However if there are a lot of people like you (there are), then the resource is over used and it reduces it for everyone. So although each individual makes a...
Personal best refers to what exactly? Longest range? I kept reading waiting for a big buck to show up or something haha when I think my best I think either the closest I got in on an animal, or the biggest
Ohh its new, that makes sense. I've slept in my copperspur hv ul2 probably 60 nights or so and it has seen some brutal storms and served me well. I can't imagine spending the extra $ on a new model name with alleged performance improvements is money well spent. I'd take it.
However I got a Big...
was officer comment in response to complaints about crowding? This thread seems to me to be about low deer/low trophy numbers, which taking small bucks certainly doesn't help.
Or are you saying Montana intentionally lowered deer numbers to try to reduce tags to reduce crowding so now we are...
I believe HV is for high volume. Has to do with the pole shape/design and how much space is inside the tent. I'd compare the dimensions/volume/height of the tents you're comparing. I have the copper spur HV ul2 for backpacking and love it.
That's great you've been taking many trips to CO for elk and now planning to head to MT for Mule deer! Might be worth doing a md hunt in CO if you know some areas better. Once you have a bit of experience hunting other states may be easier.
I just looked over your posts/threads and see a few...
Dang! That was a fun story. I gotta get up to SE Alaska...
You do any hunting targeting them now or just if you happen to come across one?

No domestic substitute? There could be. There is a lot of heavy oil in the US. CA especially. This will be beneficial for domestic production. Trump should help lift the unreasonable restrictions we have on domestic production in some places so we aren't so reliant on foreign countries. Or do...
Compared to San Diego it won't feel so crowded/expensive as many here indicate. I spent a LOT of time there growing up and loved it. I'm not in CA and would go there if the right career opportunity came along. I would say go for it.
I’ve had a blue and didn’t like it. Perhaps it was too dark and a lighter one would’ve worked better.
I find white is easiest for me, but also orange and pink.
Did the show say that Ft Bridger was in modern day Utah? At the time this was set, neither state were states yet. Ft Bridger was part of the Utah territory and was an important part of the Utah War.
And did the show say the Mountain Meadow Massacre wasn't in SW Utah?
I mean maybe the show...
I read more about Joseph smith than I ever thought I would. I have a few Mormons on my wife’s side of the family and I’m gunna have to ask them some questions next time I see them 😂 how they can buy this stuff is beyond me
I bought a tikka t3x lite in 300wm from SW last summer. I like it a lot. I’m no expert long range shooter but was shooting sub moa straight away and got better through the first 40 rounds.
That being said, my dad who is a damn good shot had trouble with it, likely due to recoil. Ammo is also...
I just watched it. Really enjoyed it. So often while sitting at work I wish I had lived as a mountain man in those days. But man, the harsh reality of it isn't all just trapping, hunting and fishing lol
