I bought a 2013 Tacoma with 23000 miles this week from an aging family friend with one of the main reasons being hunting road trips without having to put a ridiculous amount of gas money and miles on my Ram 2500.
I've only had one on me this year so far since treating all of my hunting and outdoor gear with permethrin. Last year was horrible in Northern VT for ticks but seems a little better this year after a really cold winter.
Always an extra in my pack. I have used my “backup” just as much as I used my regular release after forgetting it either in the cup holder of the truck, the kitchen table or the pocket of the coat I had on before I changed.
Most everyone who lives here in Central VT either has a camp of their own or goes to a camp at some point during deer season. Northern VT, NH or ME typically. Probably higher deer concentrations where they live but head to camp for the atmosphere, traditions and comradery.
Crispi Nevada here in Central VT for all of those things and then some. They're not too stiff but tons of support, totally waterproof when well cared for and get more and more comfortable with every mile.
I did something similar with my EZ Green but through bolted mine only because it had a thin top. I’m sure the lags would be plenty strong enough. There’s really nothing you would do that would apply much force to them. I used wing nuts on my bolts so I could remove it easily if necessary.
I recently bought a torqueless medium and it made a huge difference. I didn't care for the Mathews factory grip at all on a V3 31 and thought about selling. Saw a Rokslide recommendation for the torqueless and SO glad I swapped it out. I ground mine down a bit to customize it to my liking even more.
