Just looking for opinions on a pack (internal kutthroat vs bag for my frame) that would be used for hiking/backpacking with no need for heavy meat hauling. The wife is more interested in backpacking but I, like many of you, am part pack mule for the "extras".
I really like the kutthroat and...
While I wouldn't recommend my approach but I told her I booked the hunt. I reminded her that I'm quite the catch and she shouldn't be upset. (Did not work) I reminded her of my hunting habits when she signed up (Roll of the eyes) I enjoyed the quiet house for a couple weeks (Worked for me). That...
As to the bag only, Mule Pintler and Beartooth 80. With a Kifaru 22mag in the shed, the idea of adding the pintler seemed too similar in size. While I'm sure many use the beartooth as a day pack, I was eyeing up the 70L Metcalf.
Buddy purchased a full pack for a larger bag and I bought the MT frame. Thinking it was the MR of the past that all bags were available to purchase but sadly I found out that is not the case. The metcalf's size fills a void in the pack stable.
By chance does anyone have Metcalf looking for a...

Great read
I currently have the FHF harness with the accessory pocket and I have the full KUIU Pro harness with pocket and hydration pack which is the same profile as the 500 stalker.
Depending on the main pack you run, I could see where the...
I’m curious as well. I have the new MT frame without any bag. (Buddy needed a bigger bag and we both chipped in for the full kit).
I was thinking of the old MR when you could buy the full line of bags separate. But that is a discussion for another day.
Not trying to hijack the thread but still on a similar vein. Those running the larger bags, would you agree they pack down nicely in bivy mode once in camp? I have a SG Kiowa but run a different brand frame pack.
As a self diagnosed pack addict, I've had more than my share of different brands/internal-external frame/small-to-big capacity. I've recently added a SG Kiowa and most recently a duplex frame with the 22mag bag. Aside from the totally different frame systems, I can confirm that both are top...
Another thought to consider is a frame that is modular in design which will allow different size bags. I've seen solid kits sell very reasonable on eBay. The complete system may not be the exact size bag desired, but sell it and buy the size bag you want.
