Thanks. I looked at their site and couldn't find the info. I assumed all Ballistic reticles were etched, but if that's what Trijicon said, it must be so. Really liking the scope, wished I'd tried one sooner.
Butt heavy and top heavy rifles are NOT a joy to carry. A SWFA 3-9 is about as heavy as I like on a light rifle like a TIKKA. For non-dialing a Ballistic plex Burris or Trijicon will make hits at most hunting ranges we encounter. It's that what-if scenario that drives you nuts when making a...
Are you sure it is not an etched reticle? I have the green mildot and thought all Ballistic reticles were etched. I like mine well enough, that I'm about to get a second. That green dot will spoil ya in the thick stuff and low light!
I prefer sfp for 'normal' ranges. Ffp is better for dialing.
The Accupoint with mil dot holdovers is perfect for making hits out to 400, and that illuminated dot has to be see to be appreciated; especially in thick cover or in dim conditions.
They were my favorite hunting scope until I got a 3-9 Trijicon Accupoint recently. Wow. For my style hunting it's almost perfect.
If the 3-9 SS would lose the windage knob, it would be a big improvement. There must be a reason for the overly large occuler. Have grown to appreciate the reticle.
Hello. Sitting on stand I was thinking about a couple unique things I do. Not standard advice, but uncommon tricks you came up with.
1) I always wear my binos under my outmost layer. It keeps them from flopping or banging off my bow/rifle. Also keeps the glass warm to prevent fogging when...
Anybody ever confirm their chi-com torque wrench is even close to in spec?
With experience you can feel when you got it right. Tighten with your finger tips and stop when you get to the 'squeek' point. You can tell when you are about to exceed torque. Same goes from small screws to lug nuts.
I really like my YHM cans but for what you describe, EVO seems perfect. Omega or YHM R2 for max suppression and a more robust suppressor in your budget.
Go deep can work but a major issue is bumping into outfitters. More than once I've surprised outfitters and gotten "how did you get in here?". They can give some major attitude and act like they own the place - talking public land here. I use them to my advantage because the folks they bring...
Really need to establish your priorities before getting a can and setting up a rifle. We don't all shoot/hunt the same way. I prioritize hunting which is why I posted my initial response. I also don't shoot long range >400yds. I want a rifle around 8.5 lbs max and total barrel length of...
Personally, I don't get suppressing magnums because 1) longer barrels, and 2) they aren't very quiet. Suppressors are great for moderate cartridges like 308 & 6.5 Creed.
18.5 6.5 Creed
17 350 Legend
17.5 308 Win
18 & 16.5 22 Lr with a Sparrow
Ymh r9 or R2 depending on how light/quiet I need. Range depends on min expansion velocity for selected bullet. No way I would want any barrel longer than 24 inches with can, but I also use non-mag chambering.
