I have been looking pretty close at the Easton carbon legacy arrows. I have always shot 5 feathers so I am not sure how much difference there would be with the 4" that comes on them. might just have to buy some and find out.
I make my own strings. My recurve uses fast stings. I’ve bought 2 big spools 20ish years ago and still have plenty. I put a new string about mid summer and use the old one for back up.
On my homemade self bows I use linen strings. They don’t last long so I change them 2-3 times a year.
I have been shooting wooden arrows (mostly Port Orford Cedar) in all of my trad bows, for years now. I have thinking about trying something new. What arrows are you guys using? What do you like about them.
I with a new bow by making sure my brace height is where i want it to be. I'm looking for the sweet spot where my bow gets fairly quiet. After that, I put on the weight of head I intend to use and shoot a bare shaft. I cut off 1/4" at a time until the bare shaft is hitting nice and straight into...
I agree with this statement. bare shafts have almost no drag compared to an arrow with fletching and Broadhead increases drag a bit more. Also, broadheads a typically longer that field points which changes the FOC. At some point downrange the higher FOC will cause the nose of the arrow to nose...
If FOC is your goal, then brass inserts will be shorter for the same weight and will give you a higher FOC. Brass will also cost more. I personally haven't had any issues with aluminum inserts but i don't shoot 4mm arrows with a half-out.
I'd say shoot whichever fixed blade broadhead you like. I've seen a lot of elk killed with bows shooting slower than your dads. I wouldn't trouble over it too much. more important would be a good sharp broadhead that hods together and shoots good. There is a plethora of heads out there, as I'm...
