    If you swab clean and dry the bore then allow the barrel to cool to ambient after each shot. What kind of group do you get? I would also check about some bore-riding conicals lubed with a modern lube such as used by Bullshop or NoExcuses. Using Bore Butter for anything in a modern rifle...

    True enough but the second plug was not properly installed. The original plug hopefully was.

    The key word in the section of the owner's manual that you quote is "replace". That would mean the plug was already installed correctly -USING THE TOOL- and you are REPLACING it in the barrel. The tool should be used anytime you put a new plug in a barrel but only that one time per plug.

    I would send it in and ask for a refund as that is exactly what I did. They have lost their minds on these barrels.

    I don't know why they are doing their barrels that way. But I can tell you that I've checked the bores on two of them now and both were similar to what you have encountered but one was much worse than the other. I was told it was "in spec" after sending it to them for a refund (which they did).

    Your fouling problem would essentially go away if using BH209 but I can hardly recommend it at $100/lb. Plus it does bring it's own set of problems to the game.
