Your math is exactly why I want out of Oregon.
Even though the tax rate isn't that much less in MT or ID, the overall cost of living (pre-COVID) was much lower, especially for homes. But that is no longer the case, hence our switch to looking at NV (which also went nuts during COVID, but their...
Is the Pintler bag for the original Guide Light frame or the newer MT frame? Based on your last comment, it sounds like the Beartooth bag was designed for the MT frame, correct? Just trying to understand what bag was original to the frame (if any).
What size is the belt?
And you mention the buckle conversion kit. Is it needed?
You mentioned that the frame is the original Guide Light. Are the bags built for the MT frame? Is that what the buckle conversion kit is needed for?
Yup. That is why MT is off my list for now (and I really want to get back there because family is there) but I can't stomach the current prices. They can't last, it has to crash. Just need a couple of long -20* winters to get the Cali's to pull up tent stakes and go home...
What one person thinks is an "ammo hoarder" another person think is a "weekend supply of pew-pew fun". I don't think you can ever have too much ammo, especially after the Obama years and COVID.
I never thought I would actually have to look for 30-06 ammo for hunting, 9mm for plinking and...
Pre-Covid I would have said Montana or Idaho. But home prices doubled during the COVID years. I am now looking at the Reno, NV area to retire (my BFF has lived there for 30 years and loves it)
My cousin is a huge believer in 4Runners, he has 2 of them and they are just getting broken in at 400K miles :)
I just started using my new Ford Bronco Badlands 4 door for hunting and it has been awesome. With the front and rear lockers and 33" KO2s, it went everywhere I needed it to go last...
I buy the Columbia ones when I get a pass to the employee store. I think they are like $8/pair. They work great for hunting and keep my feet warm and blister free to below zero.
I definitely prefer the sailcloth fabric over the vx42. Not as stiff or noisy IMHO.
It is also very much a splurge purchase for me. This is not a life or death item. It is a luxury I can afford, that is also practical. I like TAD stuff, it is well-built and lasts but it is priced pretty high...
Sorry, love mine. It has replaced my MR UA24 as my EDC bag (which I already sold on FB marketplace). Other than needing an external water bottle holder, it is a near-perfect daypack for me.
I hope you can find one.
The latest version of the Litespeed can also accommodate a belt. But one is not provided and I don’t believe TAD sells on either so makes me wonder why they even spend the extra dollars to make the Litespeed “belt-capable”.
Separately, the load lifters do feel good to me to bring the pack...
