For removing rib slabs whole without using a saw, i've had good luck with "battoning" through ribs. Basically same technique you can use to split wood using a knife and a hefty stick. I'll put my knife against the ribs right by the spine and just smack away with a stick, it cuts right through...
I have the kryptek takur jacket and lived in it for almost 2 weeks on a sheep hunt when it rained the first 8 days, along with many other hunts. It's phenomenal. I'm a huge fan of Schoeller and they're one of the only companies using it. I'll own the pants as well when I can afford them!
It's...
For a really small space to just "warm up" I will light my little alcohol stove and let that burn for 20min. Produces a very small amount of CO2. Warms the place up.
I have a small wood stove in my cargo trailer which works well. I have a carbon monoxide alarm as well.
I saw someone once have a red (or any color) light plugged into the same outlet. You can generally see the light under the crack of the door as you walk by every day.
That will help for power outage / breaker failure, but not if the freezer itself goes.
The whitetail books by the benoits are good. Their program is walking down deer by tracking, and they're very good at it. I haven't been able to adapt that to thickly timbered steep mountain country where I live (not saying it can't work).
Robby Denning's book on hunting big mule deer has some...
I really like the OR ferrosi.
They are all synthetic and not quiet like wool but very reasonable especially if under another layer. Very happy with the jacket in general I own a couple for hunting and outdoor sports as well.
It doesn’t do anything 100% but really good overall in terms of...
I've been on several goat hunts and have harvested goats.
The altitude / cliffs / work have not been too bad for me, but the challenge of making sure to harvest a billy has been more difficult than I anticipated. If you can spend time with an experienced and knowledgeable goat hunter, that...
I use the seek outside half nest when using the tipi for family camping, seems to fit the bill. Adds a lot of weight and bulk though, basically doubles the weight and bulk.
I have a borah bivy. Works really well.
If what you want is a clean shelter though get a floor? I don’t know about the specs for your tent but seek outside makes liners that might work.
For sale Seek Outside Brooks 7400 integrated frame with bag. This is the Green XPac version with cordura wings, purchased Feb 2021. Small hipbelt.
It's an awesome do it all hauler pack that packs down small for daytrips. I have been fortunate to pack out meat with it but always inside a dry...
Not made anymore, but I like the MEC scully 100L duffle. I've used it for years. It's a waterproof duffle for canoeing / paddling. I would see what's available in the canoeing / rafting market. Big yellow bag in the photo.
Just some pictures for wintertime browsing. I know things can get heated in the rut but was surprised to find a dead buck in the woods behind my house late november. I generally have a camera up there, and found this buck dead 20ft off my camera. Lots of coyote tracks around him and assumed the...
