All depends on what you like. I own both, a couple of each. The S20 can’t be beat for what you’re getting especially if you find it at $1k or less. To me it’s not a question. Does Tikka have more aftermarket? Yeah. But pretty sure the S20 is the same barrel threading etc just not as popular. But...
Youll love it. If it’s like my 6.5 PRC it’s a driver. Reloads with Hornady 130 CX sub 1/2” and is one of my new favorites. 143 ELDX is also right there. The S20 are such great guns and at the sub $1k range I’d love to hear if anyone could find something better for what it offers. My S20 in 300WM...
I’m toying with this idea. I have both stocks as it’s a great gun, but realize it is in a chassis you’ll only get it so light and the action is a bit thicc.
I run a 419 sidewinder on a 9lb 300 win mag and it is insanely effective. Like into the light 308 feel if that. It’s a joke letting people see it go off and then they experience behind the trigger there being almost nothing but a small bit of recoil.
look at a Tikka. I own in 6.5 CM 6.5 PRC and 300 WM.
If you care to reload or not the CM and PRC are very accurate with factory hornady and even more so with hand loads. 6.5 PRC is an awesome round for almost everything in North America. I’ve killed more of my white tail though with the 6.5 CM...
Sitka to me first is the quality of gear.
‘’big thing is how deer see vs us. We like camo on how we see or don’t see it. But animals are a little different. The R&D some put in aren’t worthless $ spent.
early season I love sub alpine, then when it cools I goto my other gear that is EV2.
I...
I’m building a 300PRC, But currently my 300 WM has done wonders on deer. One of them the shot angle changed a part of the back strap took a hit, only lost 2” of meat maybe. But lung shots all day I’ve never had them run or caused meat damage. Good bullet selection. I’ve moved really more towards...
6.5CM. Ivet been an avid .308 guy, and have some others as well, but our 2 Tikkas in 6.5CM are hands down the favorite. Light recoil, great bullet selection, accurate. I’ve dropped nicely sized white tail from 30-400 yards no problem. We like to use ELDX and Barnes LRX bullets.
I own both and both stocks of the S20. You can’t go wrong with either the Tikka or it’s bigger somewhat more refined bigger brother the Sako.
The S20 is a different type of rifle with a metal chassis system that’s awesome. Either version weigh more than the tikka because of the chassis. I use...
I haven’t seen any bullets just random factory loads. I’ve experienced great velo readings like sub 20 SD. But most out of my Sako S20 300 Win mag and. 200 grain TA bullets I had them not stabilize at 100 yards. Couldn’t get to a further range but then after 30 rounds I had some amazing tight...
