My hunting partner and I have had the good fortune of double-headers, two years in a row on Stones (2011 & 2012) here in BC, with our bows (DIY, not guided).
Your chances of success will correlate directly with the following:
1 - get in as close to the opening of the season as possible - lead...

Base Layer: all merino wool (mixture of Smartwool, Kuiu, First Lite and Icebreaker), briefs, long-johns, t-shirt & a couple 3/4 zip long sleeve shirts of different weights...I've experimented with all kinds of synthetics and there is nothing that compares to quality...

I tend to glissade when the terrain permits it, especially if coming out heavy. Thusfar nothing has survived more than one season, and the Chugach have done quite well as this is their second season...albeit with the aid of duct tape. Apparently Kuiu/Jason is...
Here's a bunch of photos from my recent solo goat hunt in the Northern BC coastal mountains. I was blessed with epic weather this year, which made the eight day hunt a *tad* more comfortable than it was last year.

Thanks for a great write up and fantastic photos. Goat hunting has some of the most dramatic highs and lows you'll experience in the back country and I could feel them in your account. Many guys crumble when their rifle fails, but your tenacity pulled you through. Bring on more photos!
