I will also be up there in North Colorado for the third season. This will be my 44th year of hunting third season up there. As others have said, you can expect any type of weather at any time. In 2013 on opening morning, we left camp early with a temperature of 42 degrees. That afternoon, we had...

    NW Colorado

I spoke with a long time outfitter in area 12 last night and was told the same thing. Not sure if the kill was the culprit or the warm weather, but they are seeing very few elk this year. I'll be up there for third season and am hoping the weather will cool down and bring what elk there are...

$5k - $6k for a hunt….where would you go, what would you hunt?

If you want a nice elk hunt, try Jeannie Horne at J Bar H Outfitters in North Colorado. We've hunted with her several times and have gotten elk each time. Good luck.

Petition - OTC for Colorado Residents

According to the CPW, out-of-state hunters bring in, from all sources, (tags, food, outfitter costs, processing fees, hotels...etc) over $1,500,000,000. Do you really believe they are going to kill that revenue stream?

Wondering if there is anyone on here that has retired early (FIRE Movement)

My wife and I both retired at fifty. At fifty-two we opened a restaurant because we were bored to death. Yes, even with all the travel and trips, we were bored. All our friends were still working so we were alone during the week, trips and travel. We kept the restaurant for 12 years, sold it and...

Tax Prep - TurboTax versus Accountant

I get free TurboTax through the VA and use it every year to check on my CPA. I've done this for three years now and have found that my CPA saved me money each time. Our tax's are somewhat complicated so we pay $450.00 for his services. This year TurboTax had me paying $306 more than my CPA, so...

Hiring an outfitter to pack elk out?

at 74 and a solo hunter (all my past hunting partners are dead, quit hunting or unable to hunt) I looked for an outfitter in my area last year. I was told for $300 they would come get it for me. I used my inreach to contact them and before I had it completely cleaned, they were there. Even...

4th Rifle Season Colorado GMU 12

Remember, this year the fourth season will be 10 days later than before. Last year during the third season, in GMU 12, we had almost a foot of snow. With the late start, prepare for heavy snow. I would highly suggest a good set of chains. As for ATV's, there are some areas you can use them, but...
