I'd be happy with Remington Core-Lokt 140 grain PSP. Are you interested in anything I have for trade? I'd be cool with paying you to buy it from Sportsman's and I'd reimburse you with cash, ammo or a combo of both. A few boxes should be plenty.
I'm looking to trade or sell the following ammo for 264 Win Mag ammo, prefer 140+ grain cartridges. I'm located just north of Denver. If you are local, I'm happy to meet up. I will ship at buyer's expense.
- 35 rounds .308 Winchester, Fiocchi 150gr FMJ, $40
- 40 rounds .308 Winchester, HSM...
It took us 2 days to move it to a landing spot. It was 30s at night, 40s-50s during the day. We kept it hanging and in the shade, no issues with the meat at all. Transporters picked it up and took it straight to the processor in Bethel. Couldn't have been any easier.
I knew a guy who went on a guided elk hunt, his guide was a POS and was drunk the whole time. He got his elk with no help from the guide, but he still had a conversation with the outfitter about making it right. Outfitter apologized but refused to refund any money seeing as he got his elk. Guess...
Like you, I haven't had moose since I was a kid. I remember it being one of the best steaks I ever ate. Just got my Alaskan moose this year, and ate steak last week...tasted amazing. Just as I remembered it. I like it better than the Wagyu x Belted steer that is also in my freezer.
I think the only way to DIY, 100% unassisted, out of Bethel would be to ship all your own equipment in, rent a boat, and drive up river. Unless you are a bush pilot, there really is no way to do it without someone providing transportation services.
Just an FYI, I used GCA and would highly recommend them. However, I think this was their last year servicing Bethel. I think they are in the process of moving to another part of the state. Remember, these guys are transporters, not guides or outfitters. You are paying them to fly you into moose...
For what it's worth, I have zero experience with either, but I have had conversations with others who have. Hands down they recommended Papa Bear and will only book hunts with them. Not sure if they just had a bad experience with Renfros, but they didn't have anything polite to say about them...
