I remember thinking in the 90's-early 00's that the kids who's dads made $100k were rich.
My wife and I combine for more than double that and we ain't exactly living large.
We're over triple our state's average household income, hard to imagine what it's like on the bottom end of that spectrum
Lots of right ammo choices, not a lot of wrong ones for 100-300lb bears at near point blank range with a 270. Any commonly available hunting bullet will do just fine.
These were all 308 168gr ELD-M deer between 100-260 yards.
3 of 4 were high shouldered and tipped right over.
1 was low chest and forward, closer to a heart shot than middle of lungs, and it ran about 60 yards.
All 4 were pass throughs with a ton of damage... almost too much. Planning on...
I really struggled to decide on contour. I was very, very close to doing either magnum or their heavy sporter.
I settled on sporter figuring that at only 18" it'll be plenty stiff. Also I have to carve less wood out of the stock to get it to fit and float in the original wood stock
Mine measures about 2.350" with calipers.
My line of thinking was $125 to thread my existing barrel OR $400 installed for the new one. $275 to play with something new.... why not
I have an 1980's vintage Remington Model Seven in .223 1/12 twist that I am considering rebarreling to something with a faster twist to accommodate longer bullets like the 77gr TMK or 80gr ELD.
Any leads or recommendations on a 18-20" 1/7" twist barrel?
I'd make sure you talk to your outfitter to fully understand how they hunt. Some hunt heavily from roads vs more of a backcountry experience.
I don't think we were more that 1/2 to 3/4 mile from the truck or an ATV at any point in time on my wife's Newfoundland moose hunt. That was after we...
I just did a science experiment with a safe in my lightly insulated and unheated garage in PA. One 12" goldenrod was almost enough. After 9 months of being closed there was some very light surface rust on things like screw heads. I cleaned everything up, added a second goldenrod, and now it's...
I acquired a brand new in box Traditions PA Pellet .50 cal flintlock muzzleloader in a trade recently. I already have an arsenal of black powder guns so I'm moving it along.
Looking for $400 shipped/$350 picked up local in central PA.
CCI Subsonic 40 grain small game hollow points are what I like best. Faster than the "Quiets" but still subsonic out of a 20" barrel. I've killed most of the small game and furbearers out there with them from squirrels to coyotes, 5 yards to 180 yards.
If you're looking for maximum...
