Shoot, I dropped one out of a tree at 20 yards with a 56 pound longbow and a wood arrow and he was dead about 2 seconds after the arrow blew through him. You’ll be fine.
So I went against my own advice and set up a 21’ ladder stand like 12 yards from my bait lol. I found a good deal on a great stand and figured why not?
For those wondering how the activity is: I put my cans up in the usual hot spots this last weekend (Friday), which is really unusual. I’ve never been able to put up baits this early in the season before, so this is a new experiment. So far, no bears to report.
Depends a lot on the bait site, and what you’re using to lure them in honestly. I have one site that gets hit the night I set it up and hammered as long as I have it up. Then again, I’ve had others like that, but then for one reason or another are left completely alone the next year.
I had a chance to take my Morning Star out to the 3d course this weekend and shot a 308. It’s the best score I’ve had in while, and it was with the Hill bow. I had a blast.
My kid took a couple of video clips. I’ll have to figure out how to upload them.
