It will be interesting to see how courts rule when a hunter crosses what appears to be a corner shown on OnX, but the true corner (marked by a monument) is somewhere else. Will the courts assume the hunter made a good faith attempt and dismiss the case? Or will they hold a hard line and only...
It would be as legal as doing anything else on public land, unless a state has specific rules against surveying state land. We regularly survey fed and state land boundaries in the oil field.
In a checkerboard scenario, the survey is of a boundary between private and public land, and any...
Costs vary widely depending on region, specific project location, local wage rates, government jurisdiction, age and pedigree of corners, availability of records for and quality of prior surveys, and more.
Other than in-town lot surveys, any survey I do starts around $1000. A 2-man field crew...
Being a land surveyor, i see a lot of opportunities for land surveyors, both private and government, to help everyone comply with the spirit of this ruling.
The case-by-case implementation of this ruling will be tricky, and I would caution non surveyors about deciding whether a corner...

Poll is closed. Thanks again to everyone for getting kids out and making memories.
To make it official, @Jskaanland and @robby denning will verify all the votes. When they're done, I will notify the winners.
Downside: Imagine a bunch of wine moms with treating their spoiled rotten dogs like their spoiled rotten kids.
And like everyone else says, housing is riidiculously expensive.
Upside: good food, breweries, and outdoor stuff.
Lots of success again this year with all kinds of animals, settings, and happy kids doing cool stuff. We narrowed it down to 10 entries, and now it's time to vote for the best youth photo from 2024. (Tapatalk users cannot see the poll, so use the full site if you want to vote.)
Winner will...
We set the Mini on the dashboard of the truck wwhile driving across MT. No interruptions, and at least one kid was streaming movies.
The plan is great, too. Mine is turned off for the winter. I will turn it back on in the spring when we can get back in the field.
