Ha ha. That's awesome! I've used a short reed goose call to shock gobble birds. Might have to get out the duck call and open up with a hail call, see what happens!
That's it man! Thanks for the memory jog. I attended that school in '01. So it's been a minute. Scott was still the main teacher. I'm pretty sure one of his guides that helped out with our class runs it now. I think his name is Robert. Ahhh........memories
What year? I know the trailhead they hold the school out of also doubles as the "section" they outfit on during the season. So your chances of encountering a guided party would increase. I can't quite remember where it is. If anyone knows the area around Darby very good maybe I can bounce what I...
I went to guide school around Darby. Beautiful country. We were a few miles up the road from what seemed to be a service camp for kids at that time. I've pondered going back but the Wolves always come into play. Let us know how it works out for you. Best of luck!
I would eliminate treats after a fetch. The retrieve IS the treat. Are you planning on making a field trial dog or a gun dog? At 6 months of age you still have plenty of time. When you go out eliminate as many distractions as possible until you get the results you want then start introducing the...
Go check out the needles highway, Mount Rushmore or anything in the Black hills. There's a lot of cool stuff in that little area. Not to bad a drive from Gillette.
I never really questioned it. You got to have your bow and you got to crawl through the brush. I don't baby my bow it gets abused. And a side note, your going to get stuck by a cactus. It is what it is. All of those variables make the hunt a hunt
Get on them before they get pressured. I think given my same scernio after antelope have a few encounters or even one encounter with a hunter would yield different results. The tolerance for mistakes goes down dramatically.
I would go solo. It sounds like you've done your prep work, why waste it? I also wouldn't worry about bears. I have hunted in high density areas for bears and haven't even laid eyes on one (I've also camped in grizzly country and taken all the precautions). Black bears I don't worry about. Brown...
I wouldn't say hooked but I'll go back for sure. You think to yourself this is going to be a cake walk. It ain't! Archery antelope ain't easy people. The antelope definitely have the advantage
Only 26 miles? Have you ever hunted elk before? You got to get deep my man! Way deep. You gotta leave the trailhead at least a week before season opens to get in the right spot.
