Never hunted CA, but I've done plenty of training in the Sierra's and they are no joke! I once stumbled into a big buck by any state's standard...I think...it could have also been a hunger induced hallucination though. Never considered hunting there, but it sounds like a good challenge.

@Nooksack is right, ask about access to native land. Flying over native land we saw more mature bucks than you could ever dream of. Definitely something to check into. And snow helps a ton, lets you peak...
WHAT.A.TANK!!! That's awfully high for a whitetail...but probably why he's so big! Love how his antlers go really dark at the bases/G1s and get lighter the further out. Just a cool buck!
