Same here. I’ve run a Kifaru Hoodlum the last two years and usually in day pack mode. The packs these days cinch down so small. I like my pack to be able to carry something out in the first trip especially if I’m a few miles from the truck.
I have the Duplex Lite and never have tried the Tactical frame, but this is one thing I wish was changed being the position of the meat shelf. On the Duplex Lite I feel like it’s too low. If you try and strap the load down higher on the frame the shelf especially doesn’t do anything as it’s too...
I’m running KUIU’s bino harness and really like it a lot. I have the range finder attached to the right and the lanyards that come with it are nice. I’m sure there’s probably a way to mount a holster and bear spray but I’m not positive as I usually have those on my hip belt. Lots of good choices...
I was kind of debating the same thing. I’m in Utah and primarily archery hunt so I figured the 5000 was enough for what I do. I’ll admit I’m not the most ultra light packer and having the extra room is nice. If you’re hunting in MT later in the season and need more gear having the extra room is...
I used the extra straps that came with the pack since I wasn’t running a lid on my Hoodlum. I love that feature of the EXO with the extra straps as well. I do like how you can move the straps around on the Kifaru to get them just where you want them.
This is always my advice if you can swing it. Buy the packs you’re interested in and try them out side by side. Otherwise you’ll be on here second guessing yourself.
I agree with this. Best thing to do if you can is order the packs you’re interested in and try them out side by side. Otherwise...
I’ve ran a Kifaru Hoodlum with the Duplex Lite Frame the last couple seasons. It’s an awesome pack and I have nothing bad to say. With that said I’ve always wanted to try an EXO and ended up getting the K4 5000 at the Hunting Expo in Salt Lake. Looking forward to using it this season. It felt...
Congrats on the new packs! I picked up a K4 5000 at the Hunting Expo and I’m super excited as well. Steve was such a cool dude and super helpful. Love the simplicity of their packs and how functional they are.
If you can swing it I’d recommend ordering all the packs you’re interested in. Throw some weight in them and go for a walk to see what feels best. It’s the only way to know without second guessing. You can’t go wrong with any of those companies as they all make fantastic packs.
