No experience with any merino other than kuiu. I think the temperature and amount of wind has more to do with the timing of drying than the merino brand. Archery season my merino drys out within 5-10 minutes after I quit moving, rifle season it’s a little longer but the moisture keeps you warm...
You could download/purchase a Deerlodge National Forest map or call their office if you have a specific area you're looking at; this would tell you what roads will be open in September.
The 240 had been my go to for many years for all the things you've mentioned and it was one of the first items I purchased from KUIU right when they started; fit might be different in newer models. Personally I like the fit of the 280 better, the hood fits tighter and the collar when zipped all...
No experience with SG or Exo packs but I really love the kuiu packs and the new pro suspension. I’m currently running the new suspension on the ultra 4000. I’ve noticed a significant difference in comfort while loaded heavy. The fit of the new hip belt is a game changer and it seats really well...
First archery bull. It was nice to finally connect after having several close calls over the first 6 days.
This bull was screaming his head off all morning. He was held up in the timber about 60 yards away for about 5 minutes. Finally, one of his cows fed passed me and he followed . He...
I've been using the platypus Gravity works system and love it. I usually fill the 4L bag and leave it at camp and use a 2-3 L bag for my hydration system. I used a Katdyn but got sick of having to pump for water. The platypus system was definitely an upgrade its super light and doesn't require...
I've owned a pair for a couple years now and love them. They are my go to boot until the snow starts getting deep and then I switch to the mountain extremes. I've never had any issues with kenetrek boots but everyone has different feet. I have one friend who used to wear kenetrek and he made...
I picked up the zebra light Mk IV 18650 high CRI and absolutely love it. The interface takes a little time to figure out but you can program various light settings. I usually use the medium high setting when hiking/running in the dark and love the moonlight option when I'm in the tent.
I have really enjoyed the Kenetrek hardscrabble hikers. The 7" upper gives plenty of support and the sole can handle heavy loads. I use to a pair of Salomon GTX quest's but had to change because my feet would hurt if I was carrying over 30 pounds for long periods of time. The Salomon's still...
