Idahoans do not like out-of-state hunters

I didn't read all the posts but I can tell you for a fact that bad apples can come from any tree. Most people I have ran into have been pretty cool but the last NR I encountered was on an 50 mile long dirt road. He's pulling a flatbed trailer with an ATV and a lot of other stuff so he's driving...

    PEAX SOLITUDE 4 TIPI GIVEAWAY

I also like the trekking pole cross support and the double doors, as long as the cross support isn't mandatory for stability it's a great thing. I guess one could cut a couple sticks so that you didn't have to keep taking the poles out each morning. cool looking tipi!

Bug Bivy In a Floorless Shelter

I have a material called Stinger EXO50 which I believe is very similar to a Tyvek roof underlayment. I may be wrong but I think most people use a piece of Tyvek house wrap, which is thinner and gets softer with time. I have about 4 years of use on a piece of EXO50 and it is still in good shape...

Bug Bivy In a Floorless Shelter

This is exactly why I use a piece of high quality roofing underlayment under my Borah bivy, darn mats are freaking expensive and I don't want to carry a bulky foam mat, the underlayment hardly weighs anything and packs easily.

Gonna burn my CO Antelope Points....Unit 87 or 88???

IMO to have 2 tags in 10 years is better than only one tag. Ten years of applying doesn't mean the creep wont keep you out of the field for another 3 or 4 years so I vote to hunt as much as possible.

How Much Time do You Really Have?

There is never an issue till there is one, all one can do is to work diligently and be knowledgable. The first half of Sept in southern NM can have 85 degree days and 65 degree nights, time is of essence. In my opinion 85/65 temps and in PJ country will give you 24 to 36 hours, IF you can keep...

DIY NM Off Range Oryx HELP

Take the time to go drive everywhere and I mean everywhere, glass until your eyes hurt. Take a few hikes but not too many, just to get the boots broke in. Look for tracks along fences and around water, after you do that then do exactly the same thing for your hunt, no big deal, just lots of fuel...

    New Mexico 2023 Draw Thread

I was surprised everyone was so nice to you, in this day and age I imagine your name kinda scared em. I sure do miss hunting the Jemez and around the Baca, what an amazing place it was! If they could get people to stop driving the road closure roads the place would improve quickly. The...

    Hanging quarters

So do you need 4 or 5 of those set ups to get all the bags of meat in a tree or do you set it up in a way that you can just you one set up?

    LOOK AROUND!!!

I totally agree!! When young I thought I knew what I was experiencing in the outdoors, I definitely embraced my journeys whole heartedly and eyes wide but as I aged I slowly realized that there was so much more that I was just passing by. I finally realize that I have been unknowingly...

What's your favorite part of a hunt?

I agree with being present and in your preys world, also persevering thru adverse circumstances. When I start planning and looking at maps I have already started melting into the animals terrain and it's thought process, I am constantly bouncing back and forth from predator and prey, searching...
