Just gonna echo what everyone else has said. The only way to know where people, or lots of people won't go during hunting season, is to be there during hunting season. That's pretty hard to E-scout for. Make lots of plans, and accept, the elk are where you find them. Could be many miles and lots...
Haven't read all the replies, but I have a few things that I do that have helped me and may help other people with their plans.
For background, my Mom is an RN, and was an EMT for around 25 years. Spent many an evening as a youth at EMT trainings/meetings. My sister is also an EMT. Have an...
Lot of good info in here! Thanks everyone!
-As far as getting stock and doing it DIY, I'd love to. Working on that, there's some less intensive trips I'd like to go on prior to to help build some skills with handling stock.
-Part of wanting to guided, is for the experience and also learning...
Thanks for the input! Also been part of the consideration. Horses year round gets expensive fast. I guess another part of going guided was hoping to learn more about how to do the whole hunting via horse back thing to see if it was something I was willing to do long term before making that sort...
I know there are a number of threads on the Thorofare in Wyoming, but I had a few questions that weren't quite answered by those threads.
In short, I'd love to hunt the Thorofare. Being honest, I'd love to do an archery hunt, an early rifle hunt, and a migration hunt there. However, I...
Do some direct strengthening work for your glute medius. Doing so has really helped my IT band and knees.
Banded abductions, weighted abductions, clamshells and the like.

There’s an app for that. SLC is prime territory. If you set the search parameters just right you can hunt beaver and cougar at the same time.

I’ll echo all the diet comments. It’s way easier to not eat an extra 1000 (or however many) calories than it is to burn them off. Consistency is key with the diet. Do some google research on flexible dieting and if it fits your macros. Get myfitnesspal or similar and track all your food. You’d...
Bit of an update, I’ve had some good days and some bad days shooting. Broadheads still seem to hit with field points unless I pull the shot. So not sure if I need to check the tune or not because I have still been hitting left more often than not.
I did find that my limb driver rest had a part...
Single pin sight. Did have the same left/right miss when I was shooting a fixed pin sight.
I think a bit of TP may have been coming into play also. That crunch time right before the hunt and you want everything to be dialed always seems to get me.
I also worked on slowing down my shot process...
So….I took a day off of shooting. Took some of the stress off. Talked to some other archery guys in town who thought maybe I was moving my hand from my anchor point.
Also found one of my third axis bolts on the sight was loose. Don’t know if that had anything to do with it but tightened it...
I think my strings and cables are two years old, I last checked the tune last summer I think. I can check that.
I worked with my pro shop guy yesterday and moved the sight pretty far to the left, and that brought stuff back in line yesterday.
Today however, everything is back to the left...
