Great point. I’ll keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn’t get too bad but where I’m wanting to hunt is right on the fringes of the “extreme” drought right now so it may be alright. It does appear that this drought is based on the last few months and is not long-term though. Looks like there...
That’s good info. I live far away, but it may be worth a short scouting trip to see what I can turn up. I appreciate it, I’ll look deeper into the precipitation levels and see what I can find out

In January, I hunted a unit for mule deer that I really liked. We struggled to find deer, but after figuring out the unit and doing more research, I feel really good about it for this coming December. Desert mule deer, mind you. Well, I just checked the drought report and my unit is in “extreme...
This is what I have decided on for the time being. Got several different components to play with and make sure I get it right, but I feel like this is a solid setup. Thanks to everybody for responding and helping me out. Got lots of good advice and learned a lot.

Sweet, that’s great advice! The proof is in the pudding. Definitely going heavier no doubt. And I am going to try IW’s and also going to give Day Six Evo’s a shot. I think I’m going to love the IW’s though. Thanks for the reply!

Hahaha man, that’s sick! Just what I was looking for, I appreciate it! Fantastic advice, and I appreciate that you also care about totally optimizing your setup. Great stuff

Absolutely, and I appreciate you. I may message you with a couple questions when I can actually start getting the ball rolling with this. Definitely going to try archers advantage though. Great price

Yeah, I’m with you. I totally listened to your advice and already got some 2 blades to try in 100 gr and am going to try different insert weights. Right now there are just lots of things at play because it’s busy season at work and I’ve got to get my bow tuned correctly before I can really start...
I like it, good info. Makes sense. 4mm sounds great on paper but y’all are making me lean towards 5 or 6 for future builds

Thanks man, there’s a lot of great info here. I will definitely look into the 5 and 6mm. I think you’re right in that the tradeoffs are probably not worth it with the 4mms.

Thanks for the advice! I spun the arrows along with some 5mm and 6mm I had and they all spun well. So it appears that wasn’t the issue. Shot bareshaft and I did not love the outcome. The current plan is to start with getting it properly tuned. My bow shop has been cutting corners and I want it...
That’s what I have been wondering about with the arrow speed. In that particular case, it was just bad timing and it couldn’t have been avoided. But I have also had a doe duck my arrow. That’s super interesting about leaving the rib on, that’s a good point
