Thunderbeast are totally repeatable, as long as your mounting interface is solid. I cannot speak to other manufacturers. Most reputable cans should be as well, but do your own testing to validate. Of course you should expect poi shift when firing without the can. Some are more significant than...
Stay after it buddy! I’m always solo as well because I’m not waiting around for my “let’s go next year” friends. As solo hunters, we need to be 100% self reliant and stack the odds in our favor any way possible. Fire, first aid, water, navigation, and light are things that I have redundant back...
3.25 ounces mini, 4.5 ounces standard. It’s not much difference. I’m not worried about the storage capacity of either. I’m curious about the amount of striking surface between the two. The more the better, but if the mini is a flame thrower- I won’t need the bigger model.
Lighters suck for everything but birthday candles. If your ass is on the line you’ll wish you spent the money. It’s a one time investment that will last a lifetime. I’ve wasted $65 on drinks in a night.
Looking into these- I’m a fan of ferro rods above any other means of starting a fire in the field. While spendy, I think this looks like a map fuel torch compared to the other rods/strikers I’ve been using. Should I go with the standard size, or mini?
I’m nrl curious 😉. It seems a lot less to do with the circus tricks of prs, and a more practical real world simulation of what we do in the field. I have learned to dial drop/hold for wind calls. Nothing earth shattering there.
I just put in an order for a scope with the tremor 4 reticle...
Do it, but you’ll be forever known as a creedmoor fan boy and the stench will follow you. Lol. Kidding, nothing wrong with the creed- especially if you don’t reload it’s the easiest decision in the history of decisions.
If accuracy is paramount, and you don’t want to gamble on repeatable performance, thunderbeast. Flip a coin on the ultra or dominus line up. I’d not jack around with caliber specific- just go 30 cal to cover most everything since the atf makes it such a hassle.
I’ve already got my own data set from bow hunting for the last 30 years. I’ve seen the trends come and go on broadhead marketing. I was just relaying the information of two seemingly well conducted test and the discrepancy of performance results. Gel test vs. push force test.
I agree with all points above. I’m beginning to think that ballistic gel test are no more valid than shooting through water. I don’t know how they became the “standard” testing medium of performance?. Just as we all know a fixed head’s performance on game isn’t represented accurately in gel...
I have always been under the common belief that fixed blades of sound design will out penetrate your typical expandible broadhead. It’s the age old compromise of performance in flight vs. performance in penetration/reliability.
Iron will tested the force required to penetrate muscle and...
Ohio public land gets raped. We have too many hunters and too little public land. In PA you can get away from people in bow season at least. A non resident without insider knowledge would have a difficult time. Wayne national forest is the best bet, but a long shot for a new comer to find...
