Thanks for that. Like the otc opportunity Colorado offers for sure. I'll definitely follow up on your advice.

Understood. I took it as funny. I even said the same thing to my buddies. Ultimately we decided hunting would be more fun.

My experience here told me a couple of "you" guys would chime in. I appreciate the truth in your sarcasm.

    Cow elk tag

Thanks for the reply Branden. We are driving from the east so CO, WY, MT are the states we're looking at. Extreme backcountry hunt is NOT preferred in fact my buddies would prefer to road hunt I'm sure. Hunting out of a hotel is even acceptable but not necessary. It'll make many on here cringe...

    Cow elk tag

I hate to say last minute decision but I only recently talked a couple guys in to attempting a cow elk hunt this year. Hoping some of you guys would be willing to give some advice on besting our odds of drawing tags and harvesting some meat for the freezer this fall. I realize app deadlines are...

    Should this work?

Yeah. They fly pretty good but not perfect. I'll blame myself for the lack of perfect flight because I do get laser beams from time to time. Surprisingly, to me anyway, the 400s and 500s fly the same. The 400s are a little heavier obviously but I can't see a bit of difference between them even...

    Should this work?

Thanks for the reply. That's exactly what I did this evening and ended up at a 30" with 225 gr up front. My fletched arrows are now 510 gr. Unfortunately it was raining when I got home this evening so I couldn't try them out but I feel like they should work. I bought a couple more 400s just in...

    Should this work?

Up until now factory fletched. To do over I definitely would've started with a full length 500 bare shaft and begin trimming it down. Hindsight. Never thought it'd be this difficult to find a match. If not for durability I'd go back to aluminum but stump shooting gets expensive that way. Of...

    Chuckle. See previous posts.

    Should this work?

Good points. For me it was trying what was readily available at the nearest shop which happened to be gold tips. Wouldn't know how to determine center shot but Google is always there. Thanks for your input.

    Should this work?

So at what point do you stop cutting and start adjusting point weights? Otherwise you're changing two variables at once and therefore not knowing which one actually worked. I don't doubt your understanding of the subject so if you were drawing 29" and holding 51 lbs at full draw, what length...

    Should this work?

There in lies the problem. In trying to find a baseline arrow, both 4s and 5s flew pretty bad in my opinion atleast when cut to preferred length. I added enough weight to the front to GET GOOD ARROW FLIGHT. It just so happens that they ended up at 18% and 20% FOC in the process. And again, both...

    Should this work?

Thanks for the reply. Actually FOC was never my primary focus. As I stated in my op I bought two different spined arrows based on draw length and bow poundage to see which shot best. Only after discovering that neither flew worth a crap did I start working on FOC. Seemed logical at the time and...

    Thanks for clarification.

    Should this work?

I'm thinking along those lines. Quit asking questions and just go with what works. And I agree 100%, if 30 yds is beyond your capabilities, by all means, don't take the shot.
