Anyone have a pair of these that the rand hasn't detached? I tried some on and loved the fit. They felt better to me than the Nevadas. I want to try some but if there's no hope for durability, I may go with the Kennetrek Hardscrabble Hikers.

This story made my day. That's what I'd call winning with class.
We have had horrible car luck over the last 5 years but that ended when we picked up 2012 Honda Odyssey someone one was selling down the road with 115,000 miles when we were in a pinch after our nicer SUV was totalled. 3 years later it has around d 150,000 miles. We did replace an alternator...
When my wife suggests we go on a trip/adventure that's been on my list, it's always exciting. Maybe there's a fishing trip, hog hunt, or beach vacation he's been thinking about you could both go on...?
Where I get hung up about this discussion is that per the study you shared, any hunting rifle cartridge that is legal to use delivers enough "energy" or "hydrostatic shock" to be effectively lethal at all practical ranges. So I see discussing it at all as a moot point. If they all meet the...
I found the findings and recommendations of this study very interesting and, surprisingly, validating.
The final recommendation of the study was "In addition, bullets that fragment and meet minimum penetration requirements generate higher pressure waves than bullets that do not fragment...
If you shoot for the front shoulders there will be significant meat damage, especially if you hit bone. I will caveat by saying I only have one experience hunting with A-maxes. If you are lung or neck shooting every time, I'm sure performance will be devastating.
I was with a buddy hunting...
I'm interested to see what you think. This is on my short list with the LRF. I am not ready to commit financially to thermal and from what I have seen these are pretty dang good for Infrared.
I haven't heard much if anything on this thread about the new Henry Supreme lever gun that has a hammerless enclosed action, takes AR mags, free floated barrel and comes threaded. .556 or 300 blackout for now but they say they'll add more.
If nothing else, I'm intrigued.
Thanks. That's the biggest gun my wife can shoot comfortably. We were a little stressed when we couldn't find any sign of a hit/blood in the snow. I glassed the herd moving away and could see there was no wounded among them.
I had some of the same thoughts like "what would have made this...
My wife got her first elk today. 363 yards with a creedmoor shooting 143 ELD X. It was a liver shot with an impact velocity of about 2200 fps. After the initial shot the cow was surrounded by other cows, so no opportunity for a follow up and they walked over a rise so they were no longer...
I'm 32. I've never been extremely dedicated to a workout schedule, but I hike as much as possible and do periodic cardio/running in the summer months. In the past I've had a membership at the gym, but I wasn't consistent enough, but the last year or two I've noticed that my leg joints and...
Great thread. Mine was a nickname given to me by the farmer I worked for in the summers from the age of 10 to 17. He said it was from a memory game and I reminded him of the little farmer in the game, but it was spelled Husker Du.
Anyhow, the nickname stuck with my brother and friends, and to...
@wilydawg had a lefty Savage .204 in the classified over a year ago that's still listed???

I know! It's killing me because I just talked myself out of the ultralight to buy the .223 to get my 6 year old shooting, but he'll need a lefty elk rifle when he's 12 (.243 or bigger) but my wife thinks one gun a year is "more than adequate" or some nonsense like that 😆
