Your right and as long as the OP uses a 7/300 donor rifle he won't have to change anything other than opening up the stock barrel channel to fit the proof profile which might be a little bit of a chore on the factory plastic stock.
The magnum L marked magazines work fine for 6.5 PRC.

Most people that want to do what your talking about just use the standard dbm in the ctr stock.
Length wise they are the same.
You'll have some small gaps on the sides of the ctr stock.
The gaps could be filled I guess but I sure wouldn't bother.
