If you are considering Texas, take public big game hunting out of your expectations. Also, you can drive 12 hours and still be in Texas, especially from down in South Padre, not sure if that fits within the “not opposed to travel” part of your post.
Private deer leases are hard to find and...
Hunted all last week. Finally got on some fresh sign/trail around day 4. Unfortunately that’s the same day roads became impassable for us to get back up to where we found them. 4wd with chains and still sliding around more than we felt comfortable with. All the snow a few weeks ago and then the...
Just left that town elk hunting (which didn’t go well) and drove by Showdown and that’s the first place that came to mind after reading this post. Didn’t see a single thing that would make me think “ski resort”.
Wanted to check and see if anyone knows a place where people regularly go and shoot between Bozeman and White Sulphur Springs. I've found plenty of pieces of public right off the road along the way that we could use but didn't know if there was a place that people more commonly went to. Don't...
The forest service rep I spoke with said Dec 1 was the typical date they see the roads close in this area so we figured we would be ok at the bedinning of November but I'll be sure to check back in with them this summer to confirm that since your date is significantly different than what I was...
Hadn't thought about it from that perspective. It would be nice to be able to right off or move down the list some areas that we were curious about from E-scouting. Thanks for the advice.
The season will already have been open for a month by the time we get there in November unless they change the season dates significantly. I plan to speak with fish & game/biologist to discuss the area in further detail prior to us heading up as well. Thanks for the input!
I did call and speak with the forest service to ask when they typically close the "seasonal roads". Seems we should be good to go there pending some unusually strong early winter weather system.
Pretty new elk hunter here. Planning to be hunt Montana this fall and our group will likely be headed up in early-mid November.
I’m considering flying up from Texas for a long weekend sometime during the summer to do some scouting. I know this would be beneficial to get a lay of the land for...
I made it close to 135k. But I followed the maintenance plan as directed. Also only pulled a trailer a dozen-ish times so pretty like duty most of the time.
I just hope our military is enough steps ahead that we can hack Russia, China, and North Koreas nukes to where they explode the moment they hit the button.
In the event we aren’t, you thinking drawing tags would get a little easier, or are we just gonna say eff the tags at that point?
