You may want to try StaBall 6.5. Reportedly it's pretty temp stable, and you can get seriously good case fill on it. I use it for 22CM and will also try it in 223.
As Form said, they're iffy. When I was active duty I had the fortune to get to do 4 legged cull kill sweeps on the base every thursday night. We went out with a patrol truck, M4's, and a spotlight and shot any 4 legged critters that could foul up an aircraft during landing or takeoff. We used...
Though its been answered, I'd strongly recommend the Trijicon Credo HX 1-8. Excellent glass, great holdover reticle, FFP, and it can be illuminted in either green or red. I'm putting one on a 16.5" 223 Pork Sword I'm setting up.
LG Outdoors has 100 count boxes of 77TMK's in stock. Just scored 2 of them. They're running $45 a box. Looks like they had 17 left in stock after my purchase. I'm shooting them at 3200fps out of an 18" 22CM. Gonna try and tag a black bear with one this spring. I'm yet to shoot anything but paper...
I run 155 Absolute Hammers in my 280AI at 3100fps. They're great killers inside of 500 meters. Past that I have a 180 Berger Hybrid load at 2900fps. They're both great killers, but I'd go with the 155 if I could only pick one. It's still doing just shy of 1800fps at 800 meters which is more than...
I'd go with the Berger 140 Elite Hunter. My 20" Tikka 6.5 absolutely loves them over H4350. One hole group, and they're doing 2650FPS out of it. More than enough to hunt anything from 500 meters and in.
Ruger Gunsite Scout 16" .308. 46.1 grains of Varget, Federal 210M, and a 155TMK run 2600fps. I've used Sig, Federal, Hornady, and Remington brass and that load is sub moa in all of them. I can mix and match brass and it still shoots lights out.
I'm a huge fan of the 155TMK in the 308. They shoot seriously well out of my Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle. My handload is 2600fps with an ES of 9 and is superbly accurate. No question, they'd be my first and last choice of bullet.
It's more than enough for black bear. Pick a good bullet and place it judiciously and you've got a dead black bear. People are getting way too far into the weeds on this one. A 180 Cast Performance WFNGC at 1700fps will punch through both sides of a bear and leave a mess all the way through it...
A 357 is more than ballistically capable of killing a brown bear with the proper load in it. When it was first released way back in the day they killed everything from elephants down with a 158 hard cast at 1500fps. So yes, a 357 with a good hard cast and a stout load will go through a brown...
Pretty sure the 350 Legend bullets are sized closer to 9mm than to 357. I don't think you'd get much for accuracy shooting them, or anywhere near 1000fps shooting them from a 38SP case. I'd load 180 grain cast performance for a sub load. They sell some nice gas checked ones. I load them up at...
Thats the single best 30 cal mag hunting bullet. It's a solid killer, and very easy to develop a load with. Also, as of last night creedmoor sports had 500 count boxes of 77TMK's in stock. I finally scored some to work up a load for my 22CM with. I'll have that along with my 88ELDM load. Should...
