Great deal IMO.
Do these have a threaded insert on the bottom to mount onto a tripod? Internet search gave me both yes and no answers figured was worth the ask.
Tarp is a fantastic option if you have some trees or trekking poles (no trees).
Can be pitched almost anywhere and a variety of shelters you can make out of it.
I have a few, but found most are just as good quality/weight once you get above $70 or so.
Get one that doubles as a poncho.
I have a Coleman Xtreme Marine cooler I use for all my trips.
Its wonderful and will hold ice for multiple days. I think it cost roughly a 3rd of what they wanted for the rotomolded ones and its been great. When I cant fix it anymore I will buy another.
Father in law picked up a 20ft toy hauler. Gets the SxS in it, then sleeps as a trailer once the SxS is out. Beds fold out of the walls and tows ok with F150 single. I toyed with the idea of getting a ford van that you could load a dirt bike or small ATV in the back, and use that for scouting...
Are you hunting a glass- heavy area/animal? If so I wouldnt give up spotting power to save weight. Could go for lighter pack or lighter stuff in the pack, I was amazed at how much # I saved going to a lighter water carrier of all things. I would keep the scope you like, and lose the weight...
I think its a good idea to find a local park with similar topography and practice. Might not be able to hunt year round, but I can climb peaks and glass for animals/scout, and sort of "go through the motions" Love seeing the local wildlife as well.
