    Blackpowder rifle smiths

There is some info here that may be of use to you. https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/numrich-arms-underhammer.113134/ The "Bobby" being referred to I believe to be Bobby Hoyt, a ML gunsmith known for refreshing and/or reboring barrels.

Talk me out of, or into a canoe

Royalex canoes are heavy, almost indestructable, and less sleek in the water than fiberglass or kevlar. Their best application is in rough water. Having had a 16' Mad River Explorer in Royalex I would pass the Wenonah especially for lake use. If you want a canoe get a Kevlar canoe with a keel...

Calculating down fill for a jacket

If all your baffles are the same width measure the total baffle length in inches and divide your down weight by the total baffle length. That will give you the down weight per inch of baffle for even distribution. Measure each baffle and multiply its length by the down weight per inch. That's...

    Grizzlies in the bighorns

The radical animal rights folks won't accept any predator control measures until the predators are in their own back yards.

Vortex Viper 4x16x44mm or 4x16x50 both in HS LR scopes.

I have a Vortex Diamondback HP 4x16 on a rifle I have used for deer and pronghorn. It has worked fine for me but has not seen rough service. My experience with it convinced me to limit the top end magnification for big game hunting to 12x maximum. I also have a couple of Vortex Vipers on...

    First Time Hunter - Northeast

I got started in hunting much later than most. Like you, no family member hunted so I had no mentor. I was in my mid 40's when I took my 1st deer and field dressed it by myself. Field dressing isn't that hard. You just need to be very careful with the initial cuts and not cut open the guts...

wyoming antelope hunt...? no points, non res.

My response to a similar question: Look at the responses to similar recent posts for hints on how to pick a unit using past draw odds and 2024 quota data when available. Look at "Mule Deer Wyoming Options" in the Mule Deer forum. PS: I realize you asked about pronghorn but the process is the...

Any physical therapists on here? Hamstring rehab question

I would forget the primary and go to an orthopedic practice. The primary will just refer and that will delay an accurate diagnosis. Most of the ortho practices around here take walk-ins for just that reason, and because repair of some injuries are time critical.

Trichinosis, be honest, have you gotten it?

It was present in pork until a few years ago and folks managed to eat a lot of pork for a very long time without getting infected. Every cook knew to cook to the specified temperature all the way through and it was perfectly safe.

    Pre-Post retirement Budgeting

We were able to keep it pretty simple. We had our cars paid off and finished paying off the house, so zero debt. This was 3 years ahead of retirement. Then we tracked what went in and out of the checking account we used to cover all expenses, and watched the balance. After a year we knew what...

    Shooting prone

I have taken 3 pronghorn, all from prone. 2 of the 3 could have been taken from sitting but prone was my position of choice. The bigger concern is not being able to use prone due to low growing foliage. For sitting I sit with legs crossed, a Primus trigger stick or similar front support, and...
