    In Search of New Boots

Wore out my old pair of Rocky Sport Pro boots and now looking for something a little nicer. I live in northern MN so I need some warm boots. Preferably 1000+ grams of insulation. I have been looking at the Danner vital boots. But just wondering if anybody has any recommendations that I should...

Leaving Stands on Public Land in MN

That helps a lot. The piece of tax forfeited land next to my cabin is actually in crow wing county. I know that you can't build anything permanent. I use a portable hang on with climbing sticks, so that's not an issue. Thanks!!

Leaving Stands on Public Land in MN

Update - I dug a little deeper. And I think I can leave my stand overnight on this land. But I am probably going to call the local DNR officer to double check and make sure. But if any of you have any information I'd still love to hear it. Once I get some answers from the DNR officer I will put...

Leaving Stands on Public Land in MN

I am starting to think about what land I want to hunt this fall for deer. But I need an answer to this question. There is a giant piece of public land next to my cabin that is called "tax forfeited" on onX. I have hunted WMA and WPA land in MN before and I know you can't use trail cameras or...

    Broadhead Tuning Bow

I just wanted to post a thread to go over how I broadhead tuned my bow. And to help you guys not make the same mistakes I did. First of all here are my specs I shoot the Hoyt Torrex Bow 72lbs 29" DL 300 Spine Easton 5mm Axis Arrow Arrow comes in at 520 Grains with 12.9% FOC I Shoot the QAD...

    Arrow Build Overview!!

The snow has finally melted where I live in MN and I have shot my bow with my new arrows a couple times. Biggest thing I've noticed is how quiet the arrows are with the TAC Driver 2.25 vanes. I am very impressed with how they are shooting. They are hitting the target where my shot breaks. Here...

    Single pin or multi

I have an HHA Tetra Single PIn and I love it. I hunt whitetails and so far the single pin has not caused any issues having only one pin. I love the uncluttered sight picture and I have seen increased accuracy with a single pin. I love my single pin but might upgrade to a dual pin sight like the...

What is your process for choosing an arrow?

I just finished building some new arrows. My arrows came out to 515gr with 13% FOC. I hunt whitetail with majority of shots under 40 yards so I went a little heavier, but I am comfortable out to 50 yards, so that's why I didn't go extremely heavy. The first thing you should determine is what...

Bow ATA length to draw length

This is very true. Longer draw lengths can help you achieve incredibly fast arrow speeds even if you back your poundage down a little.

Bow ATA length to draw length

O If cams were that different in size, it would make a difference in string angle. Obviously cams are different sizes, but not anywhere near that different in size, so string angle from cam size is minimal. Another thing that will affect string angle is how much your limbs bend at full draw...

Bow ATA length to draw length

The same thing happened to me. I was shooting a 34" axle to axle bow and a 28.5" DL was right for me. I switched bows to a 30 3/4" ATA bow and I had to go to a 29" DL so I could keep my head in a more upright position.

Bow ATA length to draw length

Sorry for the confusion, I should have worded it differently. You will always gain speed when you have a long draw length whether the bow is maxed out or not. What I meant is the feel of the bow changes when you max out a cam on draw length. The draw cycles don't feel quite as good when you max...
