Just when you’ve thought you’ve heard of everything

I had heard rumors about sheep harvested from the Breaks having there goods sold for something like this. I'll bet if the names of some of the folks helping with the Marco Polo samples came out I wouldn't be surprised by those either.

    Diy Magview Spotting scope adapter!

It's nearly perfect. Used it the first time this last weekend and the attachment system was flawless. My only real gripe is that my Iphone really wants the top lens to be the primary but that makes the case stick out from the phone to much to match the magnet circle.

    Diy Magview Spotting scope adapter!

Both. I had trouble getting the hinge parts to stay straight enough and I also didn't like how far from the lens the phone was or lining it up. I put small magnets in those round holes and printed an eyepiece for the spotter with a circle of magnets that match but with opposite polarity.

    Diy Magview Spotting scope adapter!

Ran into enough aspects that just wouldn't come together like I wanted so I changed gears and went with an Ollin type.

Idaho Shed Hunting- Permit Required Bill

Just ban the sale of antlers and then there will be no need for seasons or permits.

    Down for DIY

For sure. They are much more weight conscience as well. I lean pretty heavily on the backpacking world for ideas. If you are making your own stuff and can add the nuances one needs/like for hunting it works out well.

    Down for DIY

Man down (especially goose down) is expensive. Most the places I've found a guy would spend as much on down for something like a 15 degree quilt as you would just to buy the quilt already made. Anybody have any good sources for some more economical down?

Do engineers have a sense of humor?

I'm sure the guy who designs the washer fluid reservoir is pretty low on the pecking order. If the engine team needs and inch or 2 for their parts they probably just shrink that thing to accommodate without even questioning it.

    Backcountry gear

Definitely bring a communication device. Elk are heavy and there's a lot that can go unexpectedly wrong for someone new to the back country. Also if you decide on Montana bear spray or a side arm is pretty much a must.

    Warming up vehicles in winter

I don't know that you would see any significant increase in transmission fluid temp just idling in park.

    Adding down to jacket

Has your jacket lost any of it's loft? Adding more down won't increase the insulation if it doesn't increase the loft of the jacket. It's actually air pockets that are doing the insulating not necessarily the volume of down.

Your engines fluid circulation systems do not operate the same at idle as they do at higher driving rpms. For example some camshafts rely on splash to disperse oil.

When would you head to ID?

For sure. Had a similar problem here hunting sheep on the Missouri November 8 last year.
