Help me pattern these blacktail does

Thanks for this reply. It is the only orchard in a somewhat barren area and there is a TON of easy food (mostly apples and pears). If I were a local deer, this is where I’d want to be. Totally possible they’ve moved on though, for sure. That’s a good thought—I’ll have a look around in that...

Help me pattern these blacktail does

It is, yeah. Which is why I was a little embarrassed to even be floating the question. Should be easy, right? For some reason it appears not to be in this case.

Help me pattern these blacktail does

Hey all, I’m having trouble patterning the blacktail on the property I’m hunting this fall. I drew an antlerless deer tag with a season that goes until February, so you’d think it’d be a cakewalk but these deer are seriously ghosting me! I’m hunting a large orchard outside of Salem, OR with a...

Does anyone have advice on calling Blacktail at the Northern Oregon coast.

Does anyone have advice on calling Blacktail at the Northern Oregon coast.

I know that Tom Ryle (a legendary PNW blacktail hunter) swears by doe bleats. He prefers the midrange “social” calls rather than the fawn-in-distress or estrus calls, because they’re more all-purpose and therefore cast a wider net. The one he uses isn’t made anymore, but people do swear by “the...

    Lever gun caliber

A gun that lives in my truck I’d want to be short. That rules out 45-70. I had a lever gun in .45 long colt when I competed in Cowboy Action but I wasn’t too impressed with its performance past 100 yards. So of the 3 you mentioned it’d be 30-30. But personally I’d go with .357 magnum. Even by...

Winchester Mod 70 Featherweight Walnut vs maple

My Model 70 featherweight has a walnut stock and I love it! It’s been my main hunting gun for over a decade now. I just picked the one on the rack that had the prettiest grain. Never had any issues or seen a loss of accuracy due to warping. There’s a reason it’s such a classic.

    Bergara? Tikka? Other? (Sub $750)

For what it’s worth, I’ve read countless hundreds of posts on Rokslide’s rifle forums and the Tikka T3x is mentioned more than any other gun, by a huge margin. Goes without saying that there’s a reason for that.

AR Upgrades for a predator gun

In my experience the two most impactful upgrades for any AR are free floating the barrel and replacing the trigger. Doing both will majorly enhance your accuracy, as well as make your rifle more enjoyable to shoot. THE BEST value you will ever find in an aftermarket AR trigger is this one...
