Idaho Non-Resident Tag Sale coming soon

And I should add that i totally feel for you. Since they switched to this system, we have tried every year before now to work out a cool hunt as a group. It’s been an absolute mess every time, and we just finally threw in the towel and agreed to get together with our ID friends for upland hunts...

Idaho Non-Resident Tag Sale coming soon

Yes, two years ago. That is part of why, even though i am off work today, i’m not participating in the ID circus.

An ATV story (opening day edition)

You really think your observations mean you're not affecting elk with an ATV (or your boots/bike/truck)? Did you take all the pressure the elk experience (like where is preferred habitat vs. where is the worst disturbance) into account? Did you know where all the other hunters and predators...

An ATV story (opening day edition)

Oh yeah, it not unexpected, just uncool. The non-hunter was there last year, too, but declined to talk to me then and seemed focused on an area a mile or two away. I had a clue he was going to work closer to me this year - I saw them on Friday and he again declined to stop and chat as he...

An ATV story (opening day edition)

I drove 20+ miles on dirt. Gave up an extra day of vacation to get there a day early to acclimate to 10k ft. Woke at 0345 this morning, hiked 90 min to where I was last year, covered up in deer, when a family matter came up and I had to leave (thanks, InReach). And just past dawn in comes an...

    Eastern Sierra horse/mule packer -

I want to go somewhere where there’s nobody and I think that means going up from the low trailheads. Down low it’s fisherman or LADWP trucks blasting along the roads, up the high trailheads, it’s just people everywhere—first time in A17, I got up on a high glassing point and seven of the eight...

    Eastern Sierra horse/mule packer -

I’ve heard this and hunted the 4-6k elevation range between backpacking trips - never found a buck down there but it’s big and sonetimes busy country. I think the best part of “up high” where a packer can drop me is just less people traffic.

    Eastern Sierra horse/mule packer -

Anyone have any experience with horse/mule packer outfits in? I pulled an archery tag for that zone this year and thinking about ways to extend my reach responsibly (I am old).

Who's in for the Idaho rodeo tomorrow?!

“Known as the NonResident Virus, the disease usually strikes in the morning of December 1st and lasts through midday. Symptoms include ‘urgent errands’, ‘family emergency’ and ‘stomach bug’. Treatment is most successful when the patient takes a day off of work. Patients who try to work through...
