I have a Sarrels Blueridge SR that I have tuned with 400's @495gr, and 350's @ 560gr and 340's @ 620gr.
This year will be the 400's as no elk are on the menu. If elk were on the menu, then one of the heavier arrow combos would get used.
My first thought when someone asks about what type of broadhead to use is always "SHARP".
So I agree 100% with the above statement. Get them sharp! whichever method you choose and works for you.
My criteria for broadheads:
1. Sharp and flies true out of my setup. Both are non negotiable.

I have used Bear Razorheads, Magnus, Zwickey, Eclipse, Zephyr, Grizzly, Woodsman (Wensel and Grizzly made), Journeyman, Montec, and Werewolf. Have wrecked them all, be it curled and broken tips or bent blades and ferrules.
Currently I use non-vented CNC machined broadheads. Non vented...
Well, going full on rifle nuts. Working on a custom too. Mack Bros Element action, Manners EH6A stock, proof research carbon barrel. Over a year out. This will have a 24" barrel.
Dies ordered, and brass will be stockpiled just in case. ADG states a 2025 Q1 production run. On the notify...
Ordered a Seekins Havak Element today in 6.8 Western. On with the journey. Primaray bullet choice is going to be a 150gr Badlands SD with a G! BC of 0.710. Time to have fun.
FYI: I am pushing the 150 and 155gr bullets to 3,000 with the plain 270 WCF and 23" barrel with Rel 26. The highest BC bullet I have seen is the 150gr Badlands at 0.710. Please let me know if there are any higher BC bullets out there.
I am not a LR hunter by any means. Absolute maximum...
As a long time 270 WCF fan, I like the 6.8 Western. A modernized 270 WCF, not a bad option at all. I plan on getting a rifle chambered chambered in 6.8 Western. Just have not made up my mind.
This is a great thread. As a long time 270 WCF fan, this is the first "new" cartridge to get my attention in 0.277 cal.
I have a 1:8 270 WCF that I used last fall to shoot antelope/deer/elk using the 155gr Barnes LRX. Typical Barnes performance. Also have a load with the 150gr Badlands...
I do not know what to expect from SDSU next year. Will have to see how it all pans out. I did see the Montana QB hit the portal.
The portal and NIL is certainly changing college athletics. There is both good and bad with it. That is why I was happy to see Coach Stig from last year win the...
