  • Any experience with the Kiln hoody? I mostly use the black orvis 150 wool base layers.

    Thanks

Yes I have the kiln. It’s a nice midweight wool piece. Great for active hunting in cool weather. Fit and hood are excellent. For more static/less active pursuits I prefer the Klamath as it’s a bit warmer and cuts wind better.
Hey Brother.....I was reading your post about the FL Klamath Hoody. I'm curious in what temperature ranges it's good for. While I usually hunt in Texas, we do get down to the 30-40deg range in the mornings and up to the mid-70's during the day. I also hunt early Sept elk on the West slope. Does the Klymath fit the bill for these conditions?

I think the Klamath over a baselayer like the wick or kiln you’ll be comfortable around 50 wind dependent. To get down to the 30-40 deg range you’d need furnace under or an insulated vest like Solitude over.
I always take my Klamath for September Elk. I also wear my Klamath almost every hunt stand hunting in Michigan below 60 deg.
