I'm getting ready to move to Colorado, down to the SW corner. According to my boss, he hunts about a mile from the road and kills an elk every year. It's gotta be 4+ points so there's the possibility of getting a decent bull. It's an OTC tag that I'm sure we can take him into the area and he will be just fine. If you're interested I can do some follow up and scout the area this summer. It'll save you money.
