    Bear Age

Great bear!! We are waiting on the ages back from last year's bears. The biologist estimated the big black boar to be about 8-10. She estimated the chocolate sow to be in the twenties. We are anxiously waiting to hear back about that one! Wish I got pics of the teeth..

    Jacket advice

Both of those packable jackets would be a great option. I'd also consider the Sitka Ambient Jacket for some added durability. I can't seem to stop putting holes in my puffys!

Sitka Core Light weight hoody or Equinox hoodie is better?

The lightweight hoodie goes on literally every hunt with me and I love it! I have one subalpine and one waterfowl marsh. There's no real bug protection, but you'll probably want to do something to repel bugs regardless of whether you're using the lw hoodie or the equinox

stalker decoy for black bear hunting

I would probably skip the decoy and stalk slowly.. but if you're going to be seen, I would hide behind the whitetail decoy. Few turkeys are walking around in full strut in the fall, so I feel like the deer decoy would be more natural. Just a gut feeling

    Late Sept tactics

Congrats on the tag! I'm not sure what type of unit you're hunting, but for that late-September time frame, I would recommend keying in on few things: - Land features: If the unit has high country, find the alpine zones, then look just below there inside the cover. Most bucks will be...

How old is your favorite Trail Camera

We run some old Browning cameras that are usually in the field 24/7/365. We've had them deployed for at least 8 years now!

    Trail cam for home security

    - If you have wifi: Blink security cameras are hard to beat. They take videos and notify your phone when there is activity. You can also talk through the camera if you want. (You also don't have to pay for a subscription if you put a thumb drive in the sync module) - If you don't have wifi but...

    Bear Bait Selection

I like running baits in the cover, relatively near water. I think bears often travel along creeks, and I've always attracted more bears when hunting near one.
